"ß" ist a german letter and is called "scharf S" (sharp S) and is similar with "ss" but there are words written with "ß" like "Straße" (street) and some with "ss" like "Wasser" (water).

the "§§" are for censorship ^^

you may have seen

Ä,ä Ö,ö and Ü,ü - but you never knew how to pronounce them (they could also be written like AE för Ä, OE for Ö and UE for Ü, but that`s only used for crossword puzzles)
