Computer refuses to boot up
« on: February 20, 2012, 12:43:15 PM »
Well I have to write this from my Ipod and its horrible self correct which I have to keep fixing. But whenever I boot up my computer, instead of a normal beep, it's a 3-4 second long beep, which stops for about 5-6 seconds and repeats till you switch off the computer. I looked it up and according to sources, it says it's a memory error, something to do with RAM. I didn't download anything recently so I don't think it was a virus. Is there a way I can fix this? Also, the computer says "No Input Signal, Power Saving" if you turn on the screen. I'm really annoyed with this.

Try replacing the RAM chip?

This.

The same problem happened to me a long time ago when I had a faulty RAM chip.

I just remembered I had a problem like this a while ago too. Replacing the RAM chip should fix it.

RAM is removable on laptops... usually just a simple trap door on the bottom of the machine. Whatchutalkinaboutson?

It could also be that your RAM isn't seated correctly. You should first try to pull apart the clips holding your RAM in place, take out the RAM, and put the stick(s) back in to your motherboard.

If the long beep continues, then it would be advised to do what the others said and replace your RAM.

Yeah, it's probably just an old ram chip that got too hot or something. You don't have to replace it, bt at least take it out, it can damage your computer.

When technology stops working, just pick it up and shake it all around.
