im starting a big project with my skins. i want to make a pack with all of them. it will look kinda like this:

this is a chance for anyone to put their own skins in the pack. just send me a link with a picture next to it. ill be glad, but it is hard. thats why i only have 2 components done :)

a huge thanks to madiaba for teaching me how to do this.

Oh sweet. How do you do that thing with the tabs? That would be helpful with making replicas and all the skinned components and such.

Yea... Id also like to know how do you duplicate the component. The changing the skin isnot a great deal (just use another path for the bmp used in each component's GMF code)

what i did was create another component to do it, but im working on how to do it just using the original. madiaba is the one who taught me, but im sure there is a tutorial somewhere. i thought i saw one on the BB's site. im also available on AIM or Yahoo chat to explain it. its easier with a mic and talking than constant IM's.

That looks cool, but whats the point of a Co2 tank skin? You can only see it while you're building the bot.

well, you see it when you post the robot. it may be silly, but is there any harm? the point of a skin is to mix things up a bit. in the pack i will have 4 different colors of airtank along with the original. just choose the one you like the most.

Sounds like a cool pack, but keep in mind that if you rename any of the component txt files, then they're custom components. It doesn't matter than none of the stats are changed, they won't work on other people's computers unless they also have the pack.

Sage left the stock txt, component directory, and gmf. The "Styles = Default" only was changed to accomodate the new styles, which are not stock. And he is aware of the parameters of use.

my plan is to get everyone to download the pack, so theres no problems.

heres an update. madiaba (once again) has helped, so i finally was able to skin maces! this picture has all my skins up till now, just a couple iron spikes missing, but you've already seen those.

if anyone has any comments on what skins are bad or good, (besides this is a useless project or whatnot) just tell me. if anyone has skins they want to put in the pack... nows the time.

The magma axe looks really cool. "Lava" effect, I suppose?

i finally, finally, FINALLY, got somewhere even CLOSE to skinning an extender. this will definitely be in my pack (probably the main attraction). i added a little green dash to the end that has the attachment points. check it out.

i can also change the color of the whole extender. im gonna experiment more to see if i can color the whole side that has the attachment points.

This extender marking is a good idea. I think it would make a good addition to the 2.1 patch, since it affects nothing at all, and makes rotating much easier....
Sage, to test skin location on components, I just put numbers (1-10) in an orderly fashion covering all of the skin. Then in-game, I look at the desired location to see which number(s) is/are there. Then you know 'generally' where to place/do your editting.

The "greenbird," all of the snappers, the right two axes, and the clear white mace look awesome. Brilliant work.
