GK + Ironforge = Showcase
« on: June 17, 2015, 07:16:37 AM »
Right. I played Ironforge for the first time today and my first ever bot ended up using a devil wedge. Here it is:

Devil 2863 - Tite 5, 398.5kg (598.5 with ballast - am I doing this right? Is it still classed as a HW?). It's fun in that when it gets hit and weapons fall off sometimes we get different messages being spelt out.

That looks really nice, especially love the beater bars. I think you could downgrade your batteries and maybe increase your armour though. And that is still a heavyweight, yeah.

The issue with batteries is idk how battery balance works in Ironforge, is there a link anywhere?

And do you mean chassis armour or external armour?

Yeah that's a Ironforge HW. Also, I think batteries work like they would be inside DSL with the ant batteries and such. Don't quote me on that, I could be very wrong.

Oh yeah. The bot. Looks pretty solid. I love how you made numbers out of the Beater Walls.

I don't think there is a link, unfortunately. Though from my experience I'm pretty sure using the duracell batteries would work fine, never had issues with rammers I've created using them. As for armour, I was talking about the chassis since you've got the exposed parts well covered with plates and chassis armour in Ironforge is pretty light.

In Ironforge larger batteries have more total power than smaller ones, which means they will last longer. It's sorta like the batteries in stock but more balanced.
Also, I think batteries work like they would be inside DSL with the ant batteries and such. Don't quote me on that, I could be very wrong..
The only reason why Ants were good was because every single battery had the same total power, which mean't that for one spin motor an ant would last as long as any other battery.
chassis armour in Ironforge is pretty light.
It's light because of everything being half weight and being lighter so it actually doesn't suck and is more balanced compared to external armour.

I think I'm getting the hang of this now. This is my 5th bot, a rebuild of an IRL bot I made in DSL. It took hours of BFE to finish, I've utterly broken the rule of 7.

I want to give it a better skin but other than that really happy with it.

Hell yeah. That looks badass man. The name doesn't like as well. Wait, does the weapon have enough reach to hit the opponent?

Nope :P

But to be honest, it didn't really in the original either :P

The name doesn't like as well.

Also, I'm very confused by what you mean here?

So I redownloaded Ironforge onto my old PC, and here's my first creation on this machine:

No prizes for guessing the inspiration. Still used BFE to put like 6 of the 45 degree angles on because I planned for the Ro7 incorrectly, but hey, I'm not going to enter it into any tournaments anyway, because it's just quite bad at fighting. I definitely build for the looks in this mod.

looks great, good job. one suggestion i would make is maybe turn the flippermaker on the front of the flipper around so it runs flush against the floor?

It's not a flippermaker, it's 2 45 degree angles on extenders (Though flippermakers would have been so much easier for the arm instead of BFE'ing that second 45 angle for like 20 mins - why didn't I think of this >_>)

-I shall try that, you're probably onto something.

The chassis now is barely thicker than a controlboard. I've got another light armour plate on the bottom, so it looks the same when it runs inverted - and it can run inverted even though it uses ant wheels :3

This bot is part of a team I call 'Team TwentyTwoSevenFifteen' because I designed them all yesterday evening. Should finish building all of them later today, will get a group shot up.

Just a basic metal skin, but you don't really see it. I've made the batteries and controlboard be permanently visible, so you get to see them in battle.
