Probably been said already, but there is a general rule with most things; if it kills you, it's overpowered and cheap, if you kill something with it/anything else, you are very skillful and should be proud of yourself...I had more I was going to say, but I forgot...then again, I haven't played TF2 in ages anyway.
Yes that sequence of words I just said made perfect sense.

Nope, I use a regular Flamethrower now. More Airblasting and random crits you see, which always come in handy.

Good. Backburners are almost as annoying as the pomson.

Degreasers better imo though.

I'm not so certain- for me, the most annoying Non-Spy weapon is the Tomislav. Instant firing and nullified Pyro as an Ambush class, as they could immediately turn around and kill you before you'd even damaged them.
It's more reasonable since the nerf, though.

And yes- I'm more one who tends to kill with fire at the moment, but I've seen what people can do with it and an Axtinguisher, so I might give it a try.

Flare gun works a treat too, but my aiming isn't one hundred percent with it after an airblast yet.

Coolio. Although, I prefer to use a Shotgun- better to use when you're up against opposing Pyros or need to finish off a nearby enemy quickly.

I stay away from pyros where possible, they always want a derpy pyro fight, which I nearly always lose due to the reduced damage on the degreaser. Might start using the powerjack tbh.

On the topic of Pyro weapons...
Scorch Shot's splash damage is hilariously effective.
Yea, the fire damage is a little weak, but who cares, it can fill the Mmph gauge of the Phlog pretty quickly.

It's actually a good spychecker at range.

That to.
As long as the Spies are on fire, your team is fine.

I still haven't booted up TF2 in quite a while due to SMNC, but I just might play a game or two just to be a and follow the steps of one of my idols, worms and plastic minnows.
