Nah I was actually just playing around with BFE and realised I made a chassis that looked like Buzz from RW:AoD, decided to take it a step further with some kind of back arm (replacing a chainsaw from AoD)
(Image removed from quote.)
Oh right, that one. That bot looks okay.

I knew the chassis reminded me of something.

wat is ai who is acams

That does look real nice. That would be a way I would've built an axe bot, I really like the use of the flipper segments and the skin.

Something I've wanted to do for a while is make axes look mildly more realistic in terms with how a lot of the modern ones work.
My system doesn't work as well with Medium drums as Large (you can just about see part of the mechanism evening the drums centre with the burst pivot), but Axe Bot will only fit a Medium, so, until I make something taller, here's this.

That really does look good, and very realistic. So how does it work exactly?
Also, using a gif to show off a bot is an awesome idea.

Thanks for the compliments all :)
Thy, I'll put Snappy on the exchange when I'm fully happy with it - the lifter not working as the real one does bugs me slightly. I might also rebuild so that I BFE the sides in rather than the front back to stop the eyes being pixellated.
And yeah toAst, it's a BFE thing. Essentially what I did was add 2 extra points on the baseplate, then on the top plate moved them both back 1 so that there was still a set over the bottom back points but the other points overhung the back (giving the bot a parallelogram shape) and then you have to find those overhanging back 2 points in the bot file and reduce their height by half. Click wrote a good tutorial for BFEing chassis height, except his tutorial moves all the points were you'd only want to change 2 in this situation - https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=9216.0
im having trouble visualizing it but ill try following it step by step sometime soon and see if it works. think you could post the bot file just as a chassis so i could see it for myself?

wedgychassis

If you import that you can see what i did with the points (don't re-make the chassis or edit the points in botlab because it'll reset).
I just lowered the back 2 points in the bot file (each point is in the file 3 times)

Thanks guys, really appreciated. I hate building generic boxes, even in real life. Everything's so much more appealing and fun when it has some sort of personality.
This is also why Plazmic Inferno's featherweight, Minor Tom, may have a large vinyl face stuck onto it. :P

Anyway, this is the best way I've found (so far) to add the drum 'gear'

Looking for more compact methods but it's tough to find components with the right heights - would all be much easier with a side AP on the bursts :')

Oooh I like that system a lot. Simple looking, but I would never have thought of it. I might implement this in some of my own bots, if that's alright with you. I've been looking for a way to make axes look a little better without using the beta geared or similar.

I wanted to try out some stuff I wouldn't usually do, and I ended up with this.
LW, thwack style flailing tail, very low and fast.
