New bot time!

ok, so i got the idea for this bot whilst watching one of my old (bad) drummers running upside down and being far more affective that way, and i got the idea that maybe you can have a bot that is more effective when wedged, and then came the along this contraption

Fancy A Stroll?

its an 799.5kg tank type bot, ita probably been done before, but i've decided to patent the design and call it a "Stroppy Tank" due to the fact its most effective when its jumping around on top of things (also the name of FACs prototype, the traction on this thing is crazy, the drums are servo driven from thos giant motors (i forget the name, but they're clearly visable), the less vigilant amongst you may be thinking "But barbie, where does the traction come from, doesn't it just bounce around, it has no wheels, instruct us oh mighty one?" see those grey stripes on the drums, there actually tires, also attached to the motor, i selected the wheel that is slightly bigger than the drum so it gets traction but all but conceals the wheels. Its not really great in battle, it never KO's bots, but if it can last out a battle it tends to win on points.

Comments!

Finally, a crawler that gets good traction.  That's the bane of most crawler bots.  I have to question the wedge in front, though... don't you WANT bots to get under you?  Now if the drums were a bit higher up so they could hit bots on top of it as well as underneath... THAT would be something.  Maybe it could also be invertible.

its not a wedge, its mainly to stop the damn thing rolling with the sheer acceleration of the thing, i shall start working on the invertible thing, it shouldn't be too difficult me thinks

Edit*

Done! and a new bot i threw together just for the fun of it

Is Shes MW? If it is, would you have entered it in BBEANS if you had made it earlier?

Well, it's been almost nine months since my last post :s
and so i have a few bots to showcase, a few are my new builds, and a couple i built before my return, all comments and tips are appreciated!

Extraordinart Machine & Spark: for a long time i've been trying to build a version of Red Red Red for myself, but as of yet, i can't seem to make a great one, EM was built before i left, and Spark since i've been back, both decent, not sure if i've bettered RRR yet though :(

Mydr: before you ask, no, it isn't called My Doctor, Mydr is a welsh word (which is where i live now, yay) This was built the other day, my attempt at a juggler, and i have to say, it's been very promising, took a long time to get everything right so i hope you guys like it!

Barber Shop Flop 2: a remake of a very old bot i had, pretty affective in battle KOs very quickly, however, there is a problem with it's AI, it just drives into walls every now and again and refuses to move until something rams it, so hopefully someone with better AI knowlage than me can tell me what the kahoonas thats about

FISH!: yeah, it's just a joke bot, but i like it :)

Thankies

n.b. ACAMS, if you see this can you change the name (from apple) of this thread, for some reason, i can't do it when i edit the first post (i think that's how it used to work) diolch

EM: I really like the look and it looks effective, but cheat motors (>_<), and it looks a little underpowered. But I still love the design.

Spark: Looks good, exept 30 kg ramplates stink, (they have waaay less hitpoints than they say in the descripion) but other than that looks good.

Mydr: I really don't know much about Jugglers, so I'll let Nary go from there.

BSF2: Pretty wacky (but neat) design. What's powering the grinder? I like a lot.

Fish: XP

Wow. A self-righting juggler. :O

*worships*

But the drive is kinda weak for a HW, though. Try ditching the 4 static razors and use Techno wheels instead.
Clash Cubes 1 - Grey Matter (Runner-Up)
King of Karnage - Sideshow Freak (Runner-Up, Best Engineered)
Rust In Pieces - Paper Cut 3 (Grand Champion, Most Dangerous Bot)

UK vs USA - Dark Striker (Grand Champion)
Rust In Pieces 2 - Claymore (Runner-Up, Favourite Bot)
BBEANS 6 - Infection 4 (Runner-Up)
RA2 Team Championships - Serious Business, Skeksis (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, and Badnik)
RA2 Team Championships 2 - The Other Stig (Runner-Up, along with Scrappy, S_M, Badnik, 090901, and R1885)
Replica Wars 3 - Abaddon (Runner-Up, Luckiest Bot)

ooopd, sorry wrong EM, that was the prototype, i'll update it shortly.

hypno wheels are awesome? they're the quickest and grippiest of the small wheels. i chose them over technos mainly for the control factor.

BSF2 is powered by TWMs, not the fastest, but they do the job.

20kg black batts suck in DSL 2.1. Just check the txt's.

Also your popup and juggler (that has some slight resemblance to one of mine) are too slow, and yes you don't need the static razors neither the ramplate on top because they probably won't touch the opponent..
