Do you think we could stop making "anticipation posts" every Thursday/Friday?  It clutters up the thread for people who want to see the sneak peeks.

Well anyway, I hinted at this last week in the AI ant/beetle thread, and now you finally get to see it.  That's right, there will be a full team of 2 ants and 4 beetles using the new ultralight components.

Why 2 ants and 4 beetles?  Because even with the new components, the variety of effective designs is limited.  However, as evidenced by bots like Peer Pressure, the degree of flexibility you have in building sub-lights is still MUCH greater than in stock RA2.

The team is quite appropriately named Arthrobotics, considering it's the ant and beetle team.

AW-Nanowhirl: A nasty horizontal spinner with a powerful weapon.  Don't underestimate a brushless-powered lawn mower blade on an ant - Nanowhirl can defeat some of the beetles I've made.  And as if that weren't bad enough, it also has some beefy drive motors that will make it very difficult to pin, and as long as the blade is attached it can self-right.

BW-Microwhirl: Slightly updated from the Microwhirl I entered in RFSHQ's DSL tournament a while back, this fearsome spinner makes short work of any opponent to get caught in its blade (although, thankfully, it's not as fearsome as Firebeetle's Out of the Blue, or as glitchy.)  Decent drive, armor, and self-righting round out this  bot.

BW-Peer Pressure: A combination flipper/crusher, Peer Pressure is one of the more unique designs even among the heavyweights.  While not as powerful as Spike Heads' iNsAnItY, you'd still best make sure it doesn't get under you, or you could quickly find your chassis conforming to the vice of Peer Pressure.

Don't go throwing insults, he was just making a joke.  And i remember reading that there isn't much coding to actually do with the mod because no codes been released...

Anyway the bots look really good, but will we be able to use the ant weight motors and such? that could be overpowered...

And maybe you should make a sticky closed topic that just shows all of the previews.

Out of The Blue was a mean BW...I only beat it once with Xygon (my best Beetle) These bots look awesome...one word...BRUSHLESS!!!

Do you guys have like Copals and Liteflite wheels and sh**? or are they all DSLized?

I'm gonna make a new Xygon...That thing was tough.as everyone remembers from the old RFSHQ tournament...came in second.
HI! I AM a beta tester! :P

There are Copal motors for ants, but the other components are imaginary brands.  And the ant parts are extremely weak on anything heavier than a beetleweight, so you'd have to use several of them to be effective, and that would just be ineffecient.

...and guess what?  I'm on spring break this week, so you get an early sneak peek.  How about that.

This is the other half of the Arthrobotics team, featuring two vertical spinners and a rammer.

AW-Terminus: Brushless motor + vertical titanium blade + trapping arms = the end of your robot.  The only weaknesses of this bot are that it isn't as fast as I'd like it to be, and it isn't invertible.

BW-True Love: Looking like it came straight out of real life into your PC, True Love can push most other beetleweights with ease while its drum weapon flips them and whittles them down.  It's not the toughest beetle, but definitely my favorite just for the way it looks and handles.

BW-Robokillase: An enzyme that catalyzes the reaction: 2 Bots + Arena -> Bot + Arena + 1000 Pieces.  Don't let this fast and powerful rammer bind you in its active site, or there's a good chance you'll end up as the 1000 pieces.

Question: Were you planing an ant/beetle team by request or did you already have it in the works?

I was already working on it when the topic came up.  I figured if there's going to be sub-light parts, there had better be at least one sub-light team to test your bots against.

Sorry for the delay.  The item for this week wasn't quite finished yet on Friday.

This week's preview is the new mother of all weapon motors in DSL2: a gearbox combining TWO Perm 132's on one shaft (as if one wasn't already powerful enough).  Weighing in at an impressive 250 kgs and having an electricity drain of 4420, this monster isn't going to fit on anything but a heavyweight, and good luck cramming two of them on.  The motor makes up for that in power, though: with twice the torque of a Perm 132, it can get even the heaviest weapons spinning at full speed in no time.  It's perfect for big, gnarly HW shell spinners or bludgeoning bar spinners.  Say farewell to stacking motors and say hecko to the dual Perm 132 gearbox.

1) Awesome design!
2) Can it be externally mounted?
3) Lol, can't power a LW. :(
