Well, to start off, AAM is a new thing to the community and we know the community hates new things. Just look at when ACAMS added a few APs to the control board and the snapper2... and that was a small change. I don't even know how some people can think AAM is a good idea. Look at Inf's reaction. I hate it too. I know for a fact that almost every veteran and decent advanced user looks badly upon the idea.

I'll just leave it that for now.

AAM is not new sage.

I am absolutely sure ACAMS complained about losing a tourney on AU because Carp104 edited his bot file.

Yeah, I know I'm not to be here.

AAM is not new sage.

Going with what Nar said, if AAM is new then I wouldn't of known it and used it on multiple accounts in 2007 (To what extend I'm not sure, but it's not hard to figure out it wasn't exactly used effectively).. or even earlier.

Unless your idea of new is in a timespan of 2~3 years, Sage.

YOU ARE 100% WRONG!!!! bot file editing and AAM are two completly different ways to cheat!

I knew how to AAM in 2003.....it is NOT new, but still somewhat secret.
AAM is a must in building some bots with custom components, but should not be used in normal building. With all the glitches there really is no need for it in normal building. I am against making it public, but heck.....even lra2 knows how to do it now, so it must not be very secret.

^ Exactly. At least on the old forum people knew how to keep a glitch that could ruin a game quiet.

AAM is like changing components GMF files. BFE is Changing the Bot file directly.

It's new to the community. Earlier only a select few knew how to use it. That's what i meant.

Still doesn't explain my AAM uses in 2007. I was virtually still in noob mode back then, so how the knowledge went "that low" is a mystery.. unless someone knows?

Personally, I wouldn't really call it "a select few" either... I will admit that it is possible that Jimxorb may not have told very many people about how to do AAM (I wasn't around at the time) but he did tell HackerX.  HackerX released a tutorial on how to do AAM to the public on Jan 16, 2004 (which is still available to this day) and from what I've heard, they used to talk openly about how to do AAM until a bunch of n00bs started cheating, bragging, and screwing up their games (this could have been before or after HackerX's tutorial). Since then, it has been included in several tutorials that were aimed toward helping newbs.

I don't want to be too specific but here are the differences between the attachment styles: (there are several variations on how to do each but they always involve the associated file extension)
AAM = GMF file editing
BFE = BOT file editing
Zero Glitch = TXT file editing

IMO none of these should be openly used for anything except putting together custom component bots but I'm indifferent about other people using them as long as they understand the possible consequences and acknowledge that they are not fair against other bots that didn't use them (just like the use of custom components).

Some general rules of thumb regarding AAM/BFE/ZG:
  • If you want yourself to be noticed as having skill in the botlab, don't be doing things outside of it.
  • Don't overdo a good thing (if its cool the first time, post some other stuff before doing it again)
  • People will respect you more if you are upfront about things even if they might have gone unnoticed.

Edit: I doubt Jimxorb was the first person to do/think of AAM but I mentioned him because he was largely accredited for making it public.
