Already a death : (

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-olympics-luge13-2010feb13,0,73618.story

I have seen the video. It is not possible to put into words quite how it looks. All I can say is that Canada has offered its sincerest condolences to his family and friends, the country of Georiga, and the World. Personally, I have absolutely no idea why there was a fixed structure there that could be hit. There should have been either a wall, plexiglass barrier, or any form of netting to prevent something like this. It was a stupid, stupid oversight on behalf of whoever designed the track, and it should never have happened.

I hope that this does not ruin the Olympics, even though it is a massive stain. Let us proceed with the upcoming weeks, and cheer our nations on, urging them to succeed at all of their events.

The SFX were cool, but the speakers/singers were off-the-chart lame.

After day 1 of the medal rounds, the USA is tops with 4 medals (1G, 1S, 2B), and South Korea is the only other country with multiple medals (1G, 1S). The Netherlands, Switzerland, and Slovakia are 4, 5, and 6 all with a gold medal, and Canada, Germany, and Poland all have a silver. I'm loving the 4 channels of round-the-clock coverage we're getting here :D
