He was banned a couple months ago, lest we forget. Since then he has improved, but I've noticed a decline again as of late. We're watching it, I promise you... (The things people are putting in their sigs aren't helping though, since people have started using them he seems to have gotten worse.)

That's what we're here for, to stop it before it gets to that point. If I banned everybody that had ever been in a flame war here, we would have a very empty community! Nine times out of ten we clean the thread, issue a verbal warning, and nothing more becomes of it. People get angry, its understandable. I've even found myself in a few firefights in the past, but it is never allowed to become out of control for long.

I personally think LRA2 bashing should stop, I mean look at all the posts people make offensive towards him, add all those up together and its more spam then LRA2 will ever post.

crawlers are just another bot type so I think that to should stop, there is nothing wrong if a bot fits the rules (look at micro mayhem, that required 2 wheels) and in BBEANS and Doomed bots neither controversial crawlers won? maybe they should be outlawed in DSL but there is nothing wrong with them in stock imo. looking back in Sage's showcase everyone loved bumble bee until he entered it in BBEANS.

I think we should all make a nice big effort to work in with each other, do we really want to see the demise of this great community over such little things like a bot type or 1 member out of 790 ?

I completly agree with you. I agree with you because DSL is about realism, and I am sorry but Crawlers do not work in real life. You don't need a crawler to win a tournament in DSL.

No one should get in a big huff about them anyway though.

Crawlers should be banned from tournaments, period.

LRA2 either needs to be banned, either needs to be put into the straight path quickly by YOU admins.

Guys, an idea springs to mind: Let's ban all people who dislike crawlers!

No, wait. I has another one: How about a series of threads made for the sole purpose of debating. 1 on 1 debates, 2 on 2 or even 3 on 3. It will keep the more volitile flamewar starters down (like Crawlers) while still being the source of valid information.

Not that easy unless the mods enforce it, but i think it's a good idea...

...When some debate arises in the community and it starts a flame war, someone makes a thread only for that exact topic (example a crawler thread with a poll : against/for/don't care)

I think a democracy on topics wouldn't be a bad idea, it would stop issues arising contentiously providing people are sensible and mature about it and dont break down into an insult fight

There is no one easy way to stop flame wars or to stop people from arguing there will always be arguments and disputes but if we are to cut this down to a minimum and keep it under control then its basicly problem solved. So that just leaves the question of how to keep it under control S32 had a good idea on how to do that but that would mean that the admins would constantly have to be online because not everyone would follow these rules. We should brainstorm and then we can come up with a couple of good ideas and see what the admins think of them.
