A cancelled 2013 tournament has risen from the ashes. Not even rust can keep this Sword of Glory from decaying.



Notes:

I will be doing the AI (and bindings), unless you're willing to AI (and bind) yours.
          Custom .pys are allowed, but you must send the bindings.

You cannot enter, until I have received, and accepted your robot(s).
          I will be more stricter when it comes to entries.
                    You must send the link to the robot(s).

It is your responsibility for your robot wirings.
          Srimechs will not be added by me, if you didn't include one.

Some textures will be edited/re-skinned.

IRL Components (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=19384.msg710759#msg710759) is legal.


There is one component that has been brought over from 2.1 to be used. See Cheatbot2 for more information.

Tutorial on importing the Hammer Motor

In your components folder of 2.1, go into hammermotor then copy-paste "hammermotor.gmf" into the same folder of 2.2. Next, download this (https://www.mediafire.com/?4ldsvsmbhlnyb8a), copy-paste or drag that into the components folder of 2.2. You should hopefully now have the Hammer Motor in your 2.2 game, listed under Motors.

The Arena:

The arena will be the "Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament" arena, with edited textures.

Rules:

The game will be a fresh DSL 2.2. No custom parts, neither edited components. It will be Realistic: IRL based.

IRL Components (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=19384.msg710759#msg710759) is legal.

This will be a Light, Middle, and Heavyweight tournament.
          It's optional that you be clear which robot is in which weightclass, but it'd be easier for you to tell me so I can edit things easily.

There will be an end-tournament rumble from all weightclasses.

There will be an unlimited amount of entries.
          Two robots, per weight class, per person, until the deadline, allowing a total of 6 entries.
                    You don't have to enter all of the weight classes, but you can if you wish to.
                              for example, you can enter two Lightweights, one Middleweight, and no Heavyweight.
          Empty spaces (if any) will be filled up with bye bots made by me.

Regarding Cheatbot2 parts, see Cheatbot2.

Only one external glitch is allowed: BFE. Glitches done inside the game are allowed.
          For the chassis, as long as the chassis is not paper-thin.
                    Minimum height will be the height of the top part of the table in the Bot Lab.
          For extender work, as long as it looks like it can be built legitmately.

Must have at least 2 wheel drive, and all wheel drives must have/show controlled movement.
          Meaning no clusters, crawlers, scuttles, drones, etc.

Interchangeable weaponry is allowed.
          Be warned that I will decide which weaponry is used in your robot's match, if you don't tell me which weaponry you want used against which opponent before your matches are uploaded.

A robot(s) can be upgraded, until the end of the deadline for entries.
          Unlimited amount of upgrades.
          Sending a new robot is allowed, but it will replace your previous applied robot (in that weightclass).
                    You are allowed to use one robot in the main tournament and a different one in the rumble. Your main tournament robot will be used in grudge matches, if it has any.

Forfeiting, is not allowed.

The removal of the 7-limit attachments of RA2CF is allowed.
Component Freedom of RA2CF is allowed.
          Only once for lightweight, twice for middleweight and heavyweight.
                    Each are per robot (i.e. twice for your middleweight, and twice for your second middleweight, etc.).

Component Freedom (CF) 2-limit Elaboration

You're able to place a component anywhere that the game forbids you where you want to keep placing it but just won't let you. With CF, it will allow you to place it there. With your first usage, build from that for however long you want. Placing another component down (same or different component doesn't matter) will be the second usage, and again build for however long on that you want, too.

Match Rules

It will be a Round Robin-then-Single Elimination tournament for all weightclasses.
          There will be a Rumble at the end of the competition, from each weightclass.

A number of single matches. A number of robots in each Group, 1 or 2 (this is for discussion) eventual robot winning from each.
          Depending on the amount of entries, there'll be 4 to 8 in each Group.

3 points for a win.
2 point for a draw.

If two or more robots tie on points at the end, they will fight one-on-one to win their Group, in order to advance.

There will be an even amount of Groups. If there are 8 Groups, the robots that win from each, will then fight in the Single Elimination format.


Special Round - All robots (with or without more) fight each other, in a big rumble finale.


3 minute match, per match. No judges' decisions will be made during the tournament. Will be all based on the in-game decisions.
          A judges' decision will be based on points scored, during the rumbles.
                    Lowest points scored, eliminates the competitor.
          The Status Messages will be turned on, in case of a controversial countout.

A robot will never be disqualified for havoking. If a havok happens, the match will continue, unless it eliminates a competitor or disrupts the match (flying out of the arena, underneath the map, etc.), then the match will restart.
          The rumble, has the same rule.

why do you decide what weapon setup is used on bots with interchangable weapons? isn't it the point of the builder to build the stuff and then decides what to do against what?

My reason behind it, was that it'd spoil matches if I told the builder they're against [name] and they'd tell me what to go with. Unless they gave me a list of what to go with when they face [names] when splash is up

How did this 2013 tournament got canceled?

I wanted to focus more on that other thing I do and cancelled it. Stuff got in the way of that, and I drifted away from forums. Now I'm back, and am more determined than ever

Mr. 'zod is correct. You can enter any class of your choice with one or two robots, per class

i.e. is an example of what it means when it says you don't have to enter all of the weight classes. You CAN enter all of the weight classes, if you wish to. It's your choice

The glitch list has been edited

I've decided to add Inviso Hammer and OverKill to the motors list of Cheatbot2, since I've realised a lack of 180 degree motors for axe robots, and since there's only one non-cheatbot2 180 degree motor, I've added the cheatbot2 ones for more variety

Hey, would you mind if I used Component Freedom to put the flamethrower inside Big Time Hammer's hammer?  It'd be more like the real Blacksmith, but it feels a bit cheaty.

I'm also a bit annoyed with the Invisio Hammer Motor. It keeps wanting to be placed outside/half-outside the chassis. Would anyone mind if I bring the visible one over from 2.1?


Edit: Hammer Motor is now allowed. A tutorial has been added on how to import the component to your 2.2 game, if you need help on how it's done

Components can be skinned to your liking, however, your robot will revert back to normal during a match if it faces another with the same component


Also, I do want to also mention to everyone. You don't have to send all of your robots together, you can send one, two, however many, then send more at some other point (as long as it's before end of sign-ups)

If two or more robots tie on points at the end, they will fight one-on-one to win their Group, in order to advance.

There will be an even amount of Groups. If there are 8 Groups, the robots that win from each, will then fight in the Single Elimination format.


Special Round - All robots (with or without more) fight each other, in a big rumble finale.


3 minute match, per match. No judges' decisions will be made during the tournament. Will be all based on the in-game decisions.
          A judges' decision will be based on points scored, during the rumbles.
                    Lowest points scored, eliminates the competitor.
          The Status Messages will be turned on, in case of a controversial countout.

A robot will never be disqualified for havoking. If a havok happens, the match will continue, unless it eliminates a competitor or disrupts the match (flying out of the arena, underneath the map, etc.), then the match will restart.
          The rumble, has the same rule.

Oh yes, people. Since I entered the championship series I've been actually having a lot more fun building in RA2 than I expected, and took a bit of a detour to other tournaments. These are my first ever attempts at fully building both DSL and IRL creations (my very first one was intended for Robot Wars but since had to go to Steel 10 to hit the CW limit so I thought I might as well make it a lighter-armor middleweight instead), but I think quite a few of my creations here have come out nicer than expected and I can't wait to see them go. I've still got some HWs to do as well.

Personally, yes I would like it to be legal as it would make it more prominently known, but I think it's a little late to be adding an entire new pack that adds a new set of Aluminium armour after 99% of the entries have already been received.

Because of the size of the tournament, I've decided to reconstruct the brackets. It won't be altered, but there'll now be 2 winners per bracket, to allow more winners into the single elimination round.

Unless you want 3 winners per bracket? I'm currently going with the idea of 2.

Bear in mind, because of the size, there're currently between 9 and 11 per group.

Those robots will be automatically added to the rumble, unless you have a rumble replacement for one or both of the robots - or a second robot for the rumble addition

I have a large amount of homework to be doing, and have had this constantly happening the entire last few weeks preventing me from creating bots, but apparently you 3 cannot seem to understand this, presumably because you all have your craniums lodged firmly up your individual backsides. Just saying.  :dumb)

However, I do concede that Rob will be ona  tight schedule, so we shall move on with our lives and forget the notion of a deadline increase, unless anyone chooses to further continue this argument which should have been over and done with after the first 2 replies, especially because the actual request was a polite and simple one that somebody managed to take as a grievous insult for inexplicable reasons.
