They do, but you need a LOT of them to make a difference; it takes about 100 kilo's to make a decent battery ballast, probably more for a heavy robot.

Since I know a lot of you are confused, here's how the brackets work for Round 2:
Fight 1: Cassius 2 vs Bigger Brother
Fight 2: PulverizeR vs Frostbite
Fight 3: Revolutionist vs Round 1 Fight 6 winner
Fight 4: Fight 7 winner vs Fight 8 winner
Round 3:
Fight 1: Fight 1 winner vs Fight 2 winner

and so on.
