For the record, one version of mauler was a flail shell spinner with maces at the end of chains. But I do see your point, and it makes sense.

Well when they're at full speed, the flail's axles do come out of they sockets (the faster the thing spins, the farther they come out), and that, while increasing damage, is unrealistic.

Basically same process as the Trinity glitch, but a lesser form.

it would be realistic if the axels were on springs. it shows that ra2 can do centrifugal force

Also for the record, there is a SHW called Stump Grinder that has a horizontal spinning bar with flailing ends. Looks kind of like a green Tombstone with flails. Then there was another SHW called Thresher that had dual vertical spinning bars with flails. I saw them both compete at Mechwars.

Then there was Scrap Daddy Surplus in Battlebots that totally should have beaten Wedge of Doom--it was a SnS with a ball and chain.

So they're rare, but they DO exist in real life.

Edit: Oh, and also there was one version of Tortoise (a SHW shell spinner in Battlebots) that had flails.

i saw one that was a shell spinner that had hammer like things on it and had locks on chains that went further out so the enemy would get hit with those without slowing the main weapon down.

I believe that Mauler 51-50 was a flail shell spinner. Also, there was a heavyweight or middleweight VS in Battlebots that had flailing weapons too.

Greenspan? That one looked like it might have little flails from the way it fought, but I couldn't find any good pics to be certain.

ANYWAYS. The point is, flail spinners do exist in real life. We should stop flooding the N00b Warz thread now.
