So it's like Ironbot, but set up more like a regular tournament than a last bot standing kind of thing.  And in 3-way melee mode.

I planned on doing Ironbot in DSL at first but then decided it would take too long to break components.  Limiting it to 1 component over 8000 HP is a good idea.  How are you going to handle unbreakable components like Ti half sheets on the baseplate and heavy plows?

Also you should ban popups, they won't fit the spirit of this

Popups are probably OK for this, since it's set up more like a normal tournament than Ironbot is.  However I wouldn't complain if they were banned.

Err banning the ti halfsheets? are heavy plows unbreakable?

Well, the Half Sheets can be put on the bottom of the bot for protection and the Heavy Plows have 14000 hitpoints and 2000 fracture, which is a lot.

I so need to spam DS light and carbon fiber extenders in this.  But then again, the arena is literally screaming for flippers.

Ignoring OOTA for a sec, while you might assume high HP components might be harder to break, the truth is that whichever bot with the least amount of weapons tend to get de-weaponed completely after 1 match, regardless of what they are using.  So then whichever bot has weapons left by round 2 can easily win the next 2 match.  It really doesn't matter how much armor you have because as long as the other 2 bots has no weapons I win.  In this sense designs like refraction will have an upper hand because even if it didn't win round one it will be the only bot with weapons left for 2 and 3.  So the optimum strategy is probably to hide your wheels behind a rack of weapons to make sure you don't lose them all on round 1.  And empirical evidence suggest that heavy weapons are never as good at de-weaponing war as razors or ds light to begin with.  If you don't believe me you can do some trial runs with random bots on either NAR AI or 123 AI and see how often bots still got weapons left after 1 match.

I also don't get the chassis size limit.  I mean the best chassis is already the smallest chassis.  External armor are always superior to chassis armor.  And the hardest thing to kill are those super small 1x1.5 chassis completely covered by externals.  So why ban large chassis when they are never better at surviving?  If I want HP so badly I can just use titanium 10 on that 1x1.5.  I will not need to increase chassis size, or hitbox, for HP.

Unless you have protected/hard to reach weapons, like on a popup or some jugglers.

But you do bring up a good point; maybe this should be only single elimination?  The loser's bracket could get pretty boring if there's a lot of de-weaponed bots in it.
