Really like the concept. It will really show how skillful a builder you are seeing how unique and effective a design you can make from the same base as everyone else.

Sadly I don't DSL, but the Splash should be interesting...
You should join anyways. I don't play DSL as well but seeing how this has a already given chassis as well as being MW, there isn't that much you can do with it and it can't be possibly worse than my entry.

I feel like when we finally meet in a tournament it needs to be an epic clash of huge proportions. My entry for this would not be epic  :laughing :laughing

Alright, rules have been fleshed out. Thoughts/feedback, particularly on the chassis and bracket format?

Well, first up, the name's inconsistent... Fixed now lmao

Bots may not be updated after the first match has been recorded, except AI tweaks or skin changes

This rule's a bit silly - why no skin changes? I imagine it'd be cool to mark off all the bots we've defeated over the fights, sorta like how Steg-O-Saur-Us did in Series 3. Also, the idea of changing the design opens the door for Tornado-esque shenanigans, and I ain't down with that, bubby.

All matches are BO1 except the grand finals, which are BO5

I'd have it BO3 for every fight, and then BO5 for the grand finals.

If spots are not filled, I may reduce the tournament size or fill spots with standard DSL2.2 bots.

I could create some bye's for you?

Everything else is fine.

BO1s cause BO3s are more than 3x the work, and the bracket/group format I'm using is VERY forgiving on fluke losses. BO1 finals are a bit lame, so BO5.

Skin and AI updates ARE allowed, re-read it m8 :P

You can create some byes if you want and I'll use them, but it feels like there's a lot more interest in the tournament than my last, and that filled just fine, so they probs won't be used.

Oh, silly me. Sorry about interpreting that rule wrong.

I get where you're coming from on the BO1 thing - I didn't see the brackets before posting. I trust that everyone'll get a second chance if they lose by fluke.

Well, PM me if byes are needed. If not, I'll savor my energy for the main tournament.

Where can we download the chassis to start working on the bots?

Check my People's Choice thread, you get at least 3 games even if you lose all 3 (2 in group, 1 in playoff), and if you come top 2 in your group you start in the upper bracket. It's pretty forgiving for flukes.

I'll release the chassis after I open signups, gives me time to get feedback on it and change it if needed.

Unless the quote changed it does say that skind changes are allowed ? :P

Agreed

Adding a component]
Might want to fix that even if it's only visual :P
It's sad that you removed the Hybrid Theory idea(think that one should happen one day as well), also swapping a component should only cost one move. Are there 3 baseplate anchors(one left one right and one on top) in the chassis? Also I guess adding components to the chassis via RA2CF would be allowed?

I'd love if we had something like reserved slots(where a member could reserve a slot for a few days and needed to show updates in order to keep it), would definitely take one.

Actually, are we allowed to change the armor on the chassis or are we stuck with what we got?  I bet the answer is obvious, but I'm not seeing it in the rules.

(Image removed from quote.)

Rules:
All bots must be  built using this chassis, which you can dl here:
DSL MW (399.9 and below, not including smartzones)
Combat Arena, hazards off, 3 min fights.
You're allowed 3 modifications to the chassis. A modification would include:
  • Removing a component
  • Adding a component]
  • Moving (or rotating) a component
Chassis may not be resized or reshaped
Otherwise DSL-S standard ruleset
I can AI, but not very well, I strongly suggest you AI your bot yourself.
I reserve the right to decline a bot for ANY reason, and I will do so if a bot is going against the spirit of the rules.
No meltybrain, or custom .py's-SnS, TRFBDs, crawlers and other ghey sh** are banned
No custom components that do not come with a fresh DSL2.2 install, this includes skinned components.
1 havok restart per match per bot, any further havoks count as a round loss.
Bots may not be updated after the first match has been recorded, except AI tweaks or skin changes
All matches are BO1 except the grand finals, which are BO5
If spots are not filled, I may reduce the tournament size or fill spots with standard DSL2.2 bots.

Signups

16 slots
Signups last 3 weeks
After 14 days a 2nd bot may be submitted
First come first serve lads

Green = AI'd + Accepted
Orange = Accepted
Purple = Submitted
