Problem is if we have a 32 bracket and the last one was 64, only 12 other people would be in.

One thing I will not do, however, is exclude people based on their experience or their quality.  I don\'t want BBEANS becoming some exclusive, elitist "club".  Maybe it\'s the biggest and most prestigious tourney here, but it\'s always been open to anybody.  If I didn\'t let in newbies, we wouldn\'t have people like somestrangeguy (who was totally unknown when he first entered BBEANS3 as Destroyer), or Sage (who was still a newbie and wasn\'t yet making the killer bots he does now), or Phlox and Barbie (who weren\'t even registered on the forum when they entered BBEANS1), and the list goes on.  My point is, it\'s good to give the newbies a chance, even if their bots are SFTWs.  Just look at Phlox and Barbie\'s BBEANS1 bots and compare them to their BBEANS3 bots.

And also, there could be a champions provisional, where a past champion could get in as well (As in guaranteed a spot), and we could have like enough provisionals for half of the champions of BBEANS.

In this sense, Click will announce that he is taking, for example, 40 bots for the next BBEANS. Those other 24 would be guaranteed to ACAMS, Nary, Mike, and FB, along with the 20 best from the last tourney (AKA so vets with good bots could get in). Those vets would have their name listed, and could choose to be in or out of the tourney. Click can accept "in waiting" bots, to go in if the first 40 fill up and then the vet says they don't want to compete, or they just don't send a bot by the deadline. The top 20 can have a deadline that isn't set by when a bunch of n00bs come, send bots, and leave, but by an actual date, so they can do what vets do best. Wait until the last goddamn day to send a bot.

And then we can ban those scumbags who enter tournaments when they join and we can keep the community the way it was. We don't care about vets who leave and people like Ounce and 123STW, their noobs too! BAN THEM ALL!

Click does whatever the he wants with it, it's his OWN tournament. And he won't do this, for sure.

Maybe a place for previous champions but still...

But why don't you make a bot quality requirement for your tournament SB ? I am doing same for NAR AI Wars.

@Naryar: I was thinking of it, but I do not want to dissuade entrants. Its why I am requiring people to be an active member of the forums to enter. Hopefully their bots would be good enough. The weight requirements also require that a 400kg bot is not entered as a HW.

@090901: Well it would depend on the number in the past tourneys, and at this rate, there will not be any 32 bot BBEANS anytime soon.

@powerrave: Well this system still allows everyone to enter. If they make it on time.

Well I actually feel good about it. I am getting lots of collaboration on the idea, its coming together well, and If my tournament had more than 8 bots, then I would use it. I have some more ideas for tournaments after this version, all of which could be described as "alternate yet feasable". They extend from a UHW tournament to a tournament where everyone enters two robots which fight separately in the same bracket, and are not allowed to be the same.

Round 1, Part 2/4 is up!


Overall the fights were more exciting than part 1, I think, but a lot of that is due to Blood Orange... there's no such thing as a boring fight with a big hammer-slinging VS in the arena, regardless of whether it wins or loses     Also there's a pretty awesome 1-hit KO in one of the fights, but I can't tell you which one without spoiling the results.

However, I might change things up for BBEANS7... BBEANS1-6 make a nice set of LW,MW,HW in both mainstream game types, so #7 would be the time to do it if I was going to make any significant changes.  Most likely what I would do is open registration for veterans a week or so early, and then open it for everyone.  But that's a long way in the future and doesn't have any relevance in this thread.  This is for discussion about the bots and the matches!
