At least I won't have to fight Starcore... but I wish that him and some of the other well known builders here could of gotten in. Thats why I built mine right after Click announced the Tournament and why I sent it when he posted this thread.

I still say we have enough people for a 64 bracket matchup.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

it should be staying at 32, it's not fair to give anyone else more time to get a robot built and sent in.

Someone just start a thread to compile entrants. Anybody else who wants in could post there, just to get a head count on how many.

Holey swiss cheese, I didn't expect such an uproar.

OK, this is how it's going to work.

For the time being, the bracket will stay at 32.

But I'll do the thing I did in BBEANS3.  Anyone who still wants to enter can send me their bots.  You'll be put on a "waiting list" which is a list of all the people that will be entered if the bracket is expanded.

If I get 16 people on the waiting list (enough to organize the bracket so two byes never fight each other) then I will use a bigger bracket.

Posting here doesn't count.  You must submit a bot to be put on the waiting list, because posting "I'm in" or somesuch isn't a reliable indicator of the number of people that will actually enter.

Also keep in mind that if you support a bigger bracket, you're supporting more work for me and you'd better be prepared to deal with a longer wait before I start posting videos.

So have at it!  Prove to me that we can actually get enough people for a 64-bot tourney!  Send a bot yourself and contact any old vets you might know! (I heard someone say that Phlox and Barbie are on Youtube a lot?)

Truth be told, I'd be happy to do a 64-bot bracket if it meant getting a few more of the vets in, I just didn't think I would get enough bots.  Apparently most of you think otherwise.  So show me I'm wrong.

[rant]
One thing I will not do, however, is exclude people based on their experience or their quality.  I don't want BBEANS becoming some exclusive, elitist "club".  Maybe it's the biggest and most prestigious tourney here, but it's always been open to anybody.  If I didn't let in newbies, we wouldn't have people like somestrangeguy (who was totally unknown when he first entered BBEANS3 as Destroyer), or Sage (who was still a newbie and wasn't yet making the killer bots he does now), or Phlox and Barbie (who weren't even registered on the forum when they entered BBEANS1), and the list goes on.  My point is, it's good to give the newbies a chance, even if their bots are SFTWs.  Just look at Phlox and Barbie's BBEANS1 bots and compare them to their BBEANS3 bots.
[/rant]

Now, one last thing.  There are only 3 more days before March 29, the official end date for registration.  I realize that's not enough time to get the bots I would need.  So, registration for the waiting list starts NOW and the LAST day you can enter is SATURDAY APRIL 4.

Thank you very much for ending this riot. For the sake of a bigger and better tourney, I would be willing to wait longer for vids. (More suspense )

I sent a Youtube PM to PhloxBarbie (as they are known), and am waiting for a response. According to Youtube, they haven't been on in a month.

Heh he heh... I kinda feel responsible for this uproar.

But what if we surpass 16 entrants? Would it go for a full pledged 64 bot tourney?

I need at least 16 bots.  If I get more than that, great.  Just as long as I don't get over 64 and people start pushing for a 128-bot bracket... that would be too much.

Thank you Click for ending the uproar.

I didn't have anything against newbies participating in BBEANS, it's just that I didn't think it was fair that the people who have put in so much time and effort to the community wouldn't have the chance to participate in the biggest and most important tourney we have here.

Send in your bots ASAP guys, lets get enough so that we can have a 64-bot bracket with as few byes as possible.

Ok, 64-bot bracket... very good, many bots, more interesting, more competition... but...
This brings one 'LIL' problem :
I didn't have much free time (like many others here), so i submit an average bot, since i didn't have time to build something better in the submition period. Now the new 32 ent. will have more time for building and testing and stuff than US (guys that submit earlyer)... A DISADVANTAGE...

SO?...

Changing and Updating your Entry[/u]

You can change your entry at any time for as long as I haven't AI'd it.  I will wait at least one week after I get your bot to start AI'ing it, so you have one week guaranteed in which you can change your entry.  After that you're gambling.

You can change your entry only one time.

If you AI'd your own bot, you can change your entry one time anytime before the tournament starts.

Updating your entry is different.  You can update your bot as many times as you want, anytime before the tournament starts.  This is for minor tweaks, like wedge position and armor placement.  In order to be counted as an update and not a change, your new bot must be basically the same as your old one, and be able to use the same AI bindings as the old one.

The one exception is if for some reason your bot is unable to fight, I will give you a chance to change it.

Not a win... sorry...
Reading the Click rules I think its too late to send a COMPLETELY different type of bot that will need new AI-ing and stuff. Probably Click allready AI it.
Plus, Sage what you say its not true cos people believe that will be a 64 b. so they didn't stop theyr work on bots.
64 B. STATUS : ***STILL UNFAIR***
