If a good vet was smart like all of us "noobs", then the good vet would have started working on their bot when the tourney was announced nearly 2 months ago, and had gotten it in to secure their spot. I spent a month on my bot. It takes nearly 5 minutes of loading to get into the bot lab to look at it. It took me nearly a month and around 7 or 8 revisions, and it was done before registration opened. If a "good vet" really wanted to be in this tourney, then a "good vet" would have built their bot earlier, knowing that it is a prestigious tourney. That it has always been allowed for everybody to compete. That there has been more and more users on the forums lately.

This is not the Olympics. This is a game.

This is not a real life tourney, it is a game.

And in this game, the rules are different than a real life tourney.

Any good vet who didn't get their bot in. It is their fault. They were slow in getting their bot in, and they lost out. It is nobody's fault but theirs. And those "good vet"s or others who didn't make it in need to suck it up and accept that they were too slow. Guys, you had two months. Not working on it during that time is like asking to not compete.

[/end rant at the rant]

well, but the deadline isnt up yet, is it? when you do homework for school, do you turn it in 2 months early? or the due date?

soccer is a game. it's in the olympics.

Urjak- vets simply mean being around for a long time. a lot of vets are not good at DSL because they are not interested in a game where the only thing that counts is a good wedge. if you notice, most vets have tried dsl. they dropped it because of 'the wedge'.

@ sage: a game is one match. the rules, format and such make it a sport.

back on topic, i sent in my new entry :) better then the original i sent in.. another thing some vets could have done ;)

it could go well, or really bad.. based on my luck in BBEANS I'm gonna go with the later.

Not two months, but it gets started earlier. In case a deadline comes quicker than expected, and you need it. Because if it is done quickly, then you are ready for whenever it is due.

I dont get a lot of time to use my computer, and when I do use it, I've got a lot of stuff to do on it. However, I probably could have gotten my bot in on time if I'd tried harder. Iguess I just didn't care enough. Not to say that I didn't want to enter....
im just waiting for meganerdbomb to come along and kick things into gear.

Well guys, click said what size bracket he was doing from the beginning and it filled up. It's our loss that we weren't on the ball like we should have been. I don't see anyone else around here hosting a 32 person bracket, let alone a 64. You need to take into consideration all the effort it would take to AI 64 bots, record hundreds of matches, etc. Believe me, I'm bummed out that I forgot too. But look at it from click's POV.

kill343gs makes another good point, adding up to another 32 entries just doubles the work. i hosted the tag team tournament which i had to fix up the bindings file for all 32 robots (most AI was done by the builders) and for the 16 teams it took about 32 videos! which i had to edit with movie maker cause fraps saves massive files then upload all of them then link them all... that took a lot of work and time.

think about the work click would have to do, its not as simple as "sure lets add another 32 bots".

If Click decides to up it to 64, it would mean he would have to: AI 50+ robots, record 192 fights, edit and compile them into 132 videos, then upload all the videos onto his website. Do you really want to double the work Click has to do?

Just be thankful Click host tournaments at all. We're demanding to double the size of the tourny, whilst he works on a overhaul of DSL. You 64'ers are just demanding more and more from this guy, give him a break for once.

Best point of the entire argument. I have officially switched to the 32 bot bracket side, for the sake of getting this tourney up and going. Click does so much for us already.

Adding 32 more slots is not necessarily 32 more contestants. I don't think there are that many more that would jump in.

I declared early that I was interested that I wanted to be involved but had planned on sending in my bot during the last week based on work and life load.

If the tournament is full at 32 so be it. Let me know if there is room for me to send in an entry. If not have fun everyone....

Can we first of all just have people on a list who would sign up if it was a 64 bot bracket. Then we know if it would be another 32 contestants or just 10. It doesn't mean anything like that has to happen just to see if we get the numbers.

Wrong. I have many examples of a bot with a good wedge getting beaten by another bot without any wedge.

SnS's and Sheck spinners don't have wedges, yet prove to be very deadly.
