Why change it now. It has always been this way. And for a newb, they were smart enough to get their entry in before it filled up.

Edited statement: Enough demanding on this, guys. Tourney's are a tremendous amount of work. There is no demanding here,..from either side. Wait to hear from CB. Discussion and suggestions concerning grievances are fine, but nothing more... It's CB's donated efforts for the community.
I also relate. I didn't have time to get one in either (cause of Cuda's GUMBA stuff) thinking the deadline was the end of the month,... but he also did warn several times of (1) the ever lessening slots available, and (2) "I wouldn't hold my breath" concerning the tourney expanding to 64. So, it is what it is.
He'll be fair.
Input is appreciated. :)
-Arrogance is a quantity devoid of quality...
-As a client once told me "This is my story, and it's sticking to me!"
-Relationships these days are like the 'Arrival' section of the airport: a lot of baggage is being revealed in one place, and not a lot of it is being correlated to its real owners...

It would be very unfair to non-veterans. Haven't almost all BBEANS been won by First Time Contestants?
Any comments would be appreciated. :D

Also, a sad day for BBEANS: Me, Firebeetle, and Pyscolone are now the only three people who have competed in all of the BBEANS.  The number of dedicated entrants really took a hit this time.

In the long term, that's quite respectable. It's apparently been 2 years since the first BBEANS. RA2 came out in 2003. The game isn't as big now as it was, and it's meant to be a commercial failure as it is. (Or Wikipedia says, anyway)

Those who were around in summer 2007 when the first BBEANS started were probably nearing the last days of their interest in RA2. It's normal. If they didn't go after that, there's been another 2 years and 3 BBEANS to quit before, after or during.

Expect a splash in about a week or so (after the last entries have had a chance to switch if they want.)

Cool. This'll be interesting to see.

ACAMS is 1st in BBEANS rankings. He won't be in the tourney.

Naryar is 2nd. He won't get the chance to be the first ever to sucessfully defend his title.

Inf is 5th. After back-to-back losses (a 2nd place and a BTRSHDBBDDTBL), he won't get a shot to win it all in the division he is perhaps the best at.

Scrap Daddy is 17th. He won't be able to build on his impressive rookie performance.

K343, Madiaba (who has contributed so much time to the RA2 community) and SpyGuy also all get snubbed.

Here's how I think registration should work in the future:

It opens on the 1st of the month, and then closes on the final day of the month. At this time, all entries are taken in. When registration closes, all builders that have participated in at least one tournament before should fill up the bracket. Then, any remaining spots should be given to the builders who sent their entries in the earliest.

BBEANS is the largest and most prestigious tournament we have around here. The winners of BBEANS get huge bragging rights, and majorly influence what kind of bots get built at the time. Therefore, the competition should be as high-quality as it can be. Without builders like Inf, SD, Mad, and Naryar (the defending champion), the quality of competition takes a big hit.

I would still need at least 13 more entries for me to start considering a 64 bracket tournament.

How many people here are still wanting in?

robosh4rk i am 64th in rankings but submitted 2 reasonably good robots i don't think rankings at this stage can reflect on the caliber of the competition.

my friend (glenku) was unknown by all and has never even registered on the forums but he is right up there ahead of some big names on the forum yet he just missed out on entering, so maybe someone else will have the chance to surprise us or maybe i will be able to get a win or 2?

if i was gonna be unhappy with anything about the entries is that people like pivanov and jet-speed who were newcomers that showed lots of potential won't be in and never got to enter any other bbeans either.

Wouldn't it be better to link them to the 1.3 full version someone on the forum has a link in their sig to?

My friend couldn't make an MW in that time.. and his bots aren't really that good.

Too bad there isn't one vacant spot in the main show...

that way we could have a pre-tournament for a wild card entry...

Congrats to those that made it in. Condolences to those that missed the show.

Don't forget that through Youtube we could probably get Barbie and Phlox.

But it is up to Click.
He did warn us.
And Oggie wins the best new user award for not even having to ask people before sending his bot. Good Job!

O noes my bot didnt get in!! It's kinda my fault, cause I waited too long. I wish I had sent it in the day I said I was going to send it in, but I had some more issues with my bot that I wanted to fix. I guess I just didn't use my time wisely. It makes me sad that I won't be I every BBeans, but I can't say I was all that hopeful about winning. My bot really wasn't performing as well as I wanted it too which was part of what was taking me so long. I still look forward too seeing how the tournament goes.
Edit: I see some other people still want in as well. If there's enough to expand the tournament to 64 brackets. I'll enter My bot which I finally have built to a satisfactory condition, although still not as good as I hoped.
im just waiting for meganerdbomb to come along and kick things into gear.

Two slots open?  Someone needs to grab them while they can.  I'm not going to be able to participate in this round, sorry.

Go to it, guys, and have fun.

I was also planning on sending in a bot for BBEANS but I'm fine with it not expanding. I believe Click gave everyone plenty of warning that the slots were filling up and he also warned us a month in advance before opening registration.

Edit: Last I heard Starcore wanted to get a bot in too.

Think everyone, you had two months in advance, that is plenty of time to build something, test it, and enter it.
I managed to get something in because I used the time wisely, I had built at least four bots in advance (Tempest, Crash.EXE, Flash.EXE, and SurgicalStrike) plus some other bots I built. There was also a reason why so many people had entered just as registration started, they knew that spots to be in would not last long.

And also, who ever suggested that vets get top priority in entrants needs to think. This would allow for better fights, but think of what might happen in an all vet tournament. You might get the same champ many times in a row, the new players would be denied any chance, and soon would defeat the the reason why to host a tournament.
