Back To The Beginnings

This is my tournament idea. Basically, it will involve each of us rebuilding another's first showcased bot. It doesn't matter what weight class, as long as it is legal (So you can't do Scooby-Bot). Here are the rules:

-It will be HW, rebuild the bots to that class if they are not HW.
- It will be either Stock or DSL depending on the results of the poll I set up.
- I'm looking at 16 entrants at the moment, first come first serve, including myself.
- No BFE, AMM or ZeroG. BFE armour c will be enforced.
- While it's easier for me if you AI your own bots, I can AI for you if you want. Custom AI allowed as long as it isn't cheaty.
- Matches will be best of three, and there are some restart rules:
- 1 havok restart is permitted each round, after a second match-affecting havok I shall impose a disqualification.
- Unlimited restarts are allowed for bots getting counted out after getting stuck on components, getting stuck in the floor for no reason or the bots just spin in circles for ever.
- Multibots are forbidden.
- Custom parts and Cheatbot2 parts are forbidden. The only exceptions are custom smartzones, but only for AI'ing purposes. They may not be used for weight-adjusting or attaching components.
- Further rules depend on if this tournament is stock or DSL.

The arena will be my Twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisted Arena. Help on getting it to work with a .bmp map to give it more than plain colour would be greatly appreciated.

Prizes will come later.

There will be a losers bracket, and I'll post the bracket later. And it won't start for a bit.

 How close do we have to keep the rebuild to the original bot?  Do we keep it as close as possible, or is there allowance for creative licence? 
 
What about controlled movement?  My first showcased bot has zero, if someone had to rebuild mine, would they be required to give it controlled movement?
 
But, cool idea for a tourney.  as far as stock or dsl, my vote would be for dsl, since i can't stand stock.

You have saved so many tournaments it is nice to see you make one for yourself.  I will participate in this when it is active. I like the idea.

My only qualm is: Lots of the veterans dont have showcases that go that far back... A lot of them were lost in the forum changeovers and Atari deletion.

That's a bit of a problem. If they have pics, we'll use them. If not, then the first showcased bot here at GTM.

Btw I choose stock in the poll.  Because everyone starts at stock. It is the true beginning.  Besides I am totally itching to take a god-awful noob bot and make it competitive.  This will be like Noob Warz on crack.

I didn't think of that, but you've got a point.  As much as i hate stock (no longer even have a copy of stock installed) it's for purely asthetic reasons, i think it's ugly.  But this tourney would make more sense as stock.  i withdraw my vote.

this looks interesting. i voted DSL as i like it way more the stock. if it becomes stock, i still have a pic of my very first bot, also the first vulcan series bot. but we shall see what this will become.

I voted for DSL since... well... I don't have a single stock bot to my credit anymore. I think I've deleted all of those pictures from my Photobucket, and the place where I originally posted them is perma-closed.

Nice idea. I choose stock, mainly because, well IDK I just choose it ok ;P
