Toddo23s Newb Showcase
« on: February 22, 2009, 01:01:26 AM »
hey i just got RA2 yesterday, this is my first bot that does any good, ive beat almost every stock bot with this guy.

The disk is attached to a HP Z-Tek motor, they do unreal damage.

My 2nd bot is a rammer, with 4 hp z-teks, and 6 iron spikes mounted on the front, if i can get a good run up for a hit it does upwards of 1400 dmg.

i would love you guys to give me some advice, this is a really fun game and im looking forward to download DSL-TC and verse some people onlinee =] BTW im also on RA2 united 3, so if anyone wants to verse me go on there!

You don't have anything (visible) in the rammer that would need that pneumatic tube. Burst motors are all electric.

In the original game (and unlike RA1), saws suck. You'd never get with a really good bot with saws. Get DSL-TC if you want to use saws.

Advice... Well for the basic advice it's all the same:
-Read the forums
-Be sure to check the wiki too
- THIS: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm, something that every newbie should have a look at.

Try to shrink the chassis around the components inside to save weight.

ALWAYS BUILD TO THE 800KG WEIGHT LIMIT. NO EXCUSES

NEVER use pink batteries, or Right Angle Motors for drive on a Heavyweight.

Always use Double-Strength Aluminum (DSA). You just skip the armor tab.

Try to make the only tires you use Slipperbottoms, Shiny Hubs, and the second smallest tire (can't remember what it is called)

Try to lower the tops of the chassis so the bot can be invertible. If you watch very closely, you can see the chassis going up pixel-by-pixel. 5 pixels up is enough room for an HP Z-Tek, and shiny hub wheels on it makes invertibility.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

umm. if you got rid of your self righting mechanism on your rammer, you could lower the chassis so it would be invertible.

and saws suck. try getting starcore AI. then you will realize.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

And if you do, disregard the PIT's MW in Starcore AI v2...

Follow the 1st, 2nd, 5th rules in that.

In DSL, never ever use DSA. Also, start a new DSL showcase in the DSL section to avoid flaming, complaints, etc.

Try using The Hub wheels as they are the lightest in weight, make the chassis lower to make it able to work upsidown and reduce weight and try to use as much weight as possible (especially on the heavyweights).
