Rabbit's bots
« on: October 13, 2009, 11:23:42 AM »
Hey guys, long time no see, I hardly see anyone I used to know here, haha.
I've been away a few years from RA2 and the forums, decided to re-install it after looking at some old pictures of it I had laying around. By the way, I used to go by Ham, I go by RunningRabbit now (Not because I'm a furry. ACAMS would kill me.) if you knew me back in the days you can still call me Ham, otherwise if you didn't I'd prefer you call me Rabbit(Or Running. :v)
One thing also, I heard there was a Starcore4 pack being worked on by Starcore, is this true? That'd be awesome. And finally, anything I've missed I need to know about in the past 2 years?
Intro is done, on to the bots.

Floors, Middleweight Popup
Weapons:6 Razortips on a DDT.
Drive: Plain Zteks+Shinyhubs
Power: A single Super Volt.
Notes: Yeah I know those are Snapper2s, but it gets under so many things it's crazy, all but one (You know which) of ACAMS' anti-wedge team was gotten under and taken down easily.
It's surprising how easily it beats a lot of the HWs, save for the meanest of course.
I thought about switching the drive from Zteks to HPZteks, but I'm not sure how it would improve it any.

Leopord, Lightweight Horizontal Spinner.
Weapons: 6 Razortips on two tribars.
Drive: Chickened Angle Motors.
Power: A single Nifty.
Notes: I swear this isn't a clone of ACAMS' Childsplay, it was the second bot I made after re-installing RA2, I didn't even know the forums were here at that time. xD But I'll give him credit whether or not his bot had influence on this one or not. <3

Whirltor, Heavyweight Horizontal Spinner.
Weapons: 18 razortips on 3 normal Zteks (On Servo motors)
Drive: 2 normal Zteks with Grannys.
Power: At least 8 SBP's and one Super Volt.
Notes: I used normal Zteks instead of Hp due to weight constrain. I know the whole design could use a diet plan, but I'm still a bit rusty.

By the way, tell me if the images are too scaled down, I wanted to make sure they weren't too big.

Not bad. Not sure what to say about them, um..

You could build a bit closer to the weight limit. Atleast on Floors. It would probably benefit from the DDT being out front too, rather then a Supervolt. Less extender weight and you could have the traditional "Firestorm" popup as I'll call it. Would certainly get more points.

Leopard looks a bit exposed.

Hey, welcome back. One thing that I can tell right away is that Floors could use HPZ drive. I'll think of some other suggestions later.
Edit:
Make the HW invertible, HPZs with Shinies, and more weapons. Might have to take the plows off though...

I like your style man.

ohh i like to see that old school style of building. don't have much of that around here any more.

Don't use pink batteries on a HW, they suck. Try to compress all the empty space out of your bots as you can.

On floors it might be beneficial to switch the positions of the DDT and the black battery.

Thanks guys.
Yeah I've had RA2 for 5 years, it wasn't until 2 years ago I actually started getting serious.
I can't get good traction on Floors with HPZteks for some reason, it's a lot harder to get under other bots when he is whipping past them at a mere touch of the W key. I did put the DDT up front and changed it from under to over pop, not really worth a new screenshot. I did make a lot of changes to Whirltor and made a new bot, so we'll go to that.

Whirltor(v2), Heavyweight Horizontal Spinner.
Weapons:18 Iron Spikes on 3 HPZteks.
Drive:HPZtek+Hubs.
Power:2 SBPs and one SuperVolt.
Notes: Completely overhauled, slimmer, better armor and stronger weapons. I have to say, he didn't actually do all to well before, but now he rips through things and has enough armor to withstand even RabidPitbull's attacks. I agree SBPs aren't very on par for heavies, but he's so compact I'm glad I COULD fit in more than a single Supervolt. The extra armor looks pretty useless so exposed like that, but it's been more than helpful at staving off the hungry Starcore3 bots. (If it looks like he has extra space, don't be fooled.:v)

Glaze, Lightweight Horizontal Spinner.
Weapons:6 Razortips on a single HPZtek.
Drive:Angles+Hubs.
Power:A single Nifty.
Notes:He's quite unstable due to the fact his HPZtek is on a Servo for extra speed(I'm assuming this is why, anyway) I had extra room so I threw in a little something to help him in case he gets toppled, since when a single Razortip goes off, he has to be maintained. (I.E Turned off and on depending on combat) I don't see him going far as an A.I bot, but he's taken down over half the first set of Starcore3 Lightweights. (He repeated Whirltor's Pitbull destruction on pretty much all of them, leaving them with no parts more than half the time)
His extender is a lot higher up now but I forgot to take a picture of the change, just imagine it taller.

You need to learn how to stack components (like two batteries in one spot). Have you read through the Beetle Bro's site? It will help tremendously.

For example, your HW HS could have TWO supervolts, instead of one and a couple small battery packs.

Yes I can stack, but there is no room, in Whirltor to do so, I've tried a good hand-full of times to no avail with him, not that it matters really, he doesn't have the extra weight for another Supervolt as is. Besides I like to limit my usage of things like that.
Are my pictures too small? Leopord and OldWhirltor both clearly have stacking displayed.

I prefer Servos personally Trumpetguy, for a multitude of reasons, but thanks for the input.
