Reputation is not something that should be represented by numbers under somebody's avatar. This will only create flamewars.

Strange that you said that. That's exactly what Venko said about the grudge/ally list.

I think everyone should be able to give Rep. Perhaps if the have over 10 posts.

Now, I know I'm risking giving people like Me and Venko -1000 Rep from a certain few members, but at least it will give a more fair opinion than a few members downgrading without remorse.

Some people are a lot more biased than others, and therefore too much power in the wrong hands isn't a good thing. It would be different if there were never any flame wars or arguments around here, but that is certainly not the case. Power like that must be earned, not granted by default when you reach a certain post count. You can compare somebody who posts like serge or myself with less than 300 posts over a long period of time to someone like Cude who amassed a large amount of posts over a short period of time, who would you rather have controlling your reputation value?

Both.

Cuda is already a More respected member, Albeit a little odd, and most members who intend to stay make more than 10 posts anyway.

Ok, how about somebody like Hydro then? He has more than 10 posts, I'm sure of it.

He's actually willing to do good. He's like those guys trying to help, but ends up making wars.

I don't think you see my point. Let me try and put it this way. Think of it like your dentist. You want to make sure that guy jamming his fingers halfway down your throat knows what he's doing, right? I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want some random person giving me a root canal. It's the same idea.

I think that every time someone starts a flame war, they are docked 5 rep points.

If the system gets implemented at all, I want a negative number to be displayed for me, since I feel that if I actually should be respected for what I've done, I'll be respected without the need for a rating.

No, I mean that every time someone posts that elongates a flame war, they lose 2 or 3 rep points. That will make people just walk away from them when Venko comes back.
