I joined Fall of '06 or Spring of '07.  Wanted a game that was better than Robot Wars for PS2.  Picked RA2 up on eBay for 10 bucks plus shipping.  Joined the forums right after that.

Been mostly active since. Though I do take my breaks away from the game for several months depending on how hectic life is.

had ra1 and ra2 since they came out and joined the forum in like 06 asking how to install starcore. Messed up my  game and came back like a year later when I had my own computer.
HMMMM.... THIS SOUNDS STRANGELY FAMILIAR...
hahaha, I remember SpyGuy tried so hard to help me out and ended up getting frustrated. I was so dumb with anything that had to do with a computer. I expected the mods to go right into my game after downloading it and SpyGuy wrote like a page long guide how to install Starcore, but now looking back on it, I still did it wrong and only had the first three bots on each team. :P

First off, welcome back to the forums Vivix!

As for me, I'm sure I have posts about my history of RA2 somewhere, but at the moment I'm too lazy to find them so, to summarize:

Bought the game off the official site 2 years ago, found the forums shortly after, started lurking for a few months afterward, signed up in June 2009, and the rest is history.
Tournament Record: 94 Wins - 50 Losses
Challenge Record: 2 Wins - 2 Losses

LOL Exact same for me too..

I youtubed it and found Click's VHS, that got interested in looking it up then eventually Torrenting it

Played with it a bit for a month or 2 / lurked then joined here January 2009..

Then this Site claimed a significant portion of my life from then on :P

I got a cloned copie of RA2 from a guy from my old class (I don`t even know how the CD of RA2 looks like)
I`m playing RA2 since 5 or 6 years withouth a long break. I lurked sometimes. then I  joined back in 07 and posted once. 2 years and one day later I returned but I forgott my password so I made a new account and now I`m an active user since 2009.

I torrented it way back then (5 years ago or something) but didn't managed to make it work, so I abandoned.

Then two years later I caught interest in it again, discovered the RA2 official forums and Gametechmods, downloaded the game, and made it work.

Here's my story,

I was into in battlebots back when it was on TV. I had all the toys: biohazard, diesector, ect. Then battlebots went off the air and I forgot about it. Then summer 2009 I saw something on the Travel Channel. It featured robot combat. I was instantly hooked again. I then did some major googleing and found NERC. I attended FI 2009 and decided I was going to build a robot. To research what makes a good robot I turned to my trusty friend known as YouTube. I watched many videos of robot combat and eventually stumbled apon that video of RA2 that everyone finds. (You know the one with that poker with a bunch of iron spikes and pistons.) I then found the RA2 site and decided to click the forum thingy only to find it led me to here. I didn't join at first but I did download RA2 from a certain bearded members sig. I lurked for about a month and then decided to join here using the name of my robot thinking it would get me some "street cred". Sufice to say it only caused some embarrassing  google results when looking for my bot so I then asked Mad to change my user name to SKBT and thats pretty much my GTM story.

Hmm...

I found out about RA2 When I was watching Robot combat videos in the beginning of december 2008. I downloaded it from some sort of weird website... Then I found GTM At march 2009, and Joined to the forums on May. I've almost been 2 years here. :3

:trollface

I always wanted a GOOD robot combat game (I hate RW:ED on the xbox) and I'd looked before for one, but somehow completely missed this game, which is annoying otherwise i'd have been playing this game for atleast a year longer. Anyway, one time I was in the mood for robot wars again, watching vids though as I already thought that a good game didn't exist, and then I accidently found one of resseti's replica vids. I looked up the game, found this site, got stock an dsl, went away and played (mostly dsl) for about a week, then came back here and registered, and posted my first (crappy) bot not long after.

this is ridiculous am I the only one who bought ra2 for $30?

I got it for $20 if I remember right.  I saw an advertisement for it at some robot combat event I went to (don't remember if it was Mechwars or RFL Triangle Series), looked it up when I got home, found out it was already out, and went out and bought it at Best Buy.  This was maybe a year or so after it was first released.

I remember watching the little preview video on the main site and being utterly in awe of how realistic the physics looked.  After playing RA1 for a while you can't imagine how mind-blowing it is to see bots getting flipped and tossed around.

Got RA2 from PR beginning of last year. I joined solely to attract his attention and found ST. I joined it, got ignored, left for a few weeks, came back, started a showcase, spammed ST for seven months, started being active beginning of this year. Now looking for a Stock Tourney to enter and am creating an MW pokerbot this evening

I've had RA2 since October... 7 or so days after I joined. I've been actually playing rather then 'getting around to it' for about a month now.Its rather good despite its age.
