Avatars are disappearing!

Most of the people who haven't posted in a while's avatars are gone. (Noticed this while reading peoples showcases for the lulz). Also Reier's avatar disappeared until he came back. Now R0B0's is gone...

Explanation please?

for some reason since yesterday on my computer random people's avatars just dissapear
then when i reload the page they come back and other people's avatars dissapear

It might be something to do with bandwidth, or how much info you can download for one webpage. Sometimes there's a limit, I think, but I'm not entirely sure.
