uk antweight kits
« on: May 23, 2011, 10:55:38 AM »
at most roaming robots, robots live events i am often asked about building antweights, then asked if there is a kit, there are two, the roaming robots kit and the robot wars 101 kit. the roaming robots battle ants are utter rubish, and the robot wars 101 kit is a bit expensive and over powerfull.
i have been designing a fairly cheap antweight kit, prices would be about £70 for a working robot with a basic weapon, lowwer without weapon or chargers.
these would be mainly for new roboteers in the south of england, i have just made a bulk order of 3d printed gears so i can post more exact details when they arive. the robots can be made out of a specific material if the buyer would like.  i would prefer to hand these over at events so i can explain how everything works exactly and things like that so that people can be complealy happy handing money over. im not expecting a large amount of sales, and will do things basily to order.
i thourght i would post this here as in a lot of posts in the members robot section asking about cheap kits, is anybody interested?

I seem to be making the cheapest antweight ever. total is estimated to be £39, £45 with a very good flipper servo. Includes everything. Imma make 2 identicals ones, so I can battle with friends.

You can get the Roaming Robots Super Ant kits. Not really an antweight as such, but still compete in Roaming Robots events. Fairly cheap as well, iirc.

TBH, the BA's are a waste of money, not an antweight, but are somehow much worse, uncontrollable, little traction and a very weak flipper

leave anything unnatended for  even the shortest amount of time and some kid will find a way to break it, pushing buttons turning wheels ajusting trims, showing them how to drive the things is a hard task in itself
