ok back on topic again

I will add that series 4 had the best pit ever, it lowered if a boring match was dragging on or once a robot was KO'd, the addition of the Pit Button made it annoying

I sorta thought that the early version of Anklebiter was unlucky. I've seen a couple matches with it where it performed well, but was immobilized by getting stuck on the wall spikes, or getting flipped by the killsaws.

Thing is, though, by 4.0 Ankle Biter was essentially a running joke in Battlebots, having lost and lost badly in the last two tournaments before the major reconstruction (to F5 in 3.0 and Heavy Metal Noise in 4.0). In 5.0, it gained a level of badassery and did absolutely great... until it once again got unlucky against a severely underweight Turtle (Road Kill).

Yeah I loved the sawbot version of Ankle Biter, too bad it always lost.

Oh, and two words: BLOOD. MOON.

To me, that was one of the funnier moments in Series 5!

i think Dantomkia's loss to Gravity was pretty unlucky yet it was amazing at the same time.

gravity had a better wedge

problem with DanTomKia is they sacrificed the wedge for the 2 chisels at the front,

T-Wrex got unlucky when fighting S.O.B. in Season 5, when S.O.B.'s drive motors burnt out, T-Wrex for some reason couldn't reach S.O.B. (maybe out of bad driving?) and eventually got stuck on the wall. :FFFUUU

The Judge got unlucky while fighting Rammestien in Season 3, he had been totally Pwning the fight, but got stuck under the pulverizer. :FFFUUU

And, of course, Turbo in S3. :SFTW

Chaos 2's loss to Dantomkia, considering it was taken out by the stunt which it originally created, and the fact that had Shunt not intervened by pushing it into the CPZ where it couldn't selfright, it might've survived.

Carnage Raptor vs Sallad in Series 3.

Carnage Raptor was doing great until he got stuck under the screws :FFFUUU

Chaos 2 has an almost 0 righting circle (one of the best self righting space sizes in Robot Wars)

the problem with Chaos 2 was the new system put in in series 5, apparently the CO2 was continually freezing in the pipes making it impossible to self right

But for flippers in general, could another gas, like compressed air for example, be used with simular power?

perhaps but (im not a pneumatics professional) I understand that liquid C02 is used for the flippers converting it into gas, and a small volume of liquid C02 converts to a large volume of pressurized gas, making it much more efficient for multiple uses.

if I recall correctly Mute had something crazy like 20kg of C02 on board

Oh alright. It was because I remembered a couple of flippers using different things to power their weapons, like Bolt from the Blue in RW Series 4, for example.

BFTB did use compressed air for their weapon. I think Mute did have some ridiculous amount of CO2 for their weapon, too. Hence why it couldn't really self-right properly, it always used to do a complete flip and land upside-down again.

Quite unlucky, I would say.
Another robot I'd say that luck didn't do any favours was Eric, from Robot Wars Series 3. It had King Buxton right on the edge of the pit (Two wheels over), and when it tried to push King Buxton in, it drove off, and Eric fell in itself!
