Ok. The parts I got came in. Problem: I've already hit the weight limit, despite calculating everything properly when ordering to leave 20 grams for hardware. I'm pretty much going to say that something's fishy about these "150 gram" robots.

There are only 15 ants registered by my count. You could always ask Chuck if he'll let you switch weight classes.

From my information, the antweight class is completely full. I don't know if that last spot is reserved or what.

I'm assuming this is for Clash of the Bots. It was full up until a few days ago on BuildersDB, so if your info is older than that it may be worth asking.

Hope that you don't get a draw against that bot lifters and spinners don't mix well.

Well, it turns out I won't be fighting Invertigo. I'm going ahead and entering the Antweight (1-lb) class.

I am confused as how you have got to that weight. As long as you've used the standard gear motors and a sensibly sized servo, everything should come to at least under 100g.

lightest robot i have made was 48g, 9g servos and a single lipo cell.

but yeah, using gearmotors and a 20g servo will get you to about 110-120g

I don't think it's even that heavy. The gear motors are 10g each, so I'm sure motors, servo, speed controller, receiver, lipos and wheels should come to around 80g/90g if sensible parts were used.

I'm trying to use Fingertechs in order to avoid using modified servos. Neither Robot Marketplace nor my LHS had anything smaller in stock.

And that would be your problem. Fingertechs are too heavy to be suited to (our) ants. They should be fine if you want to build an American ant though.
