In a bit of a jam...
« on: July 03, 2012, 02:11:25 PM »
Well, it turns out the Antweight class is full at the event I'm entering, so I'm having to compete in the Fairyweight class. Only one problem... Invertigo is entered. Any suggestions on how to deal with this monster?

Can we see the event registration and the bot you're using?

Break it. That's the best way to fight a spinner.

Avoid sharp edges, that blade will be spinning very fast, and with angled sides, will have nothing to bite on.

I don't have the robot built yet, it's still in pieces, in a box, on a plane headed for Asheville Regional Airport. I have a bad habit of doing everything last minute...

I am building a lifter, though. My idea was to use a design that can control opponents, and I am using some exceptionally good motors for the class.

Avoid sharp edges, that blade will be spinning very fast, and with angled sides, will have nothing to bite on.

I'll keep that in mind.

Build your robot well and whack the spinner as hard as you can. Unless the robot uses magnets it usually sends them out of control.

and hope you have good armor
How you make Alarm Clock Pizza is:
Step 1: You buy an alarm clock from the store, and then you have to break it and put it in the sauce.
Step 2: Fold the sauce in 5 slices and put it in the dough.
Step 3: Paint the eggs with a pitcher of a clock showing what time you want to wake up and eat pizza for breakfast.
Step 4: Put the eggs in the dough.
Step 5: Make it flat into a round shape and draw the time you want on it.
Step 6: Put some old steel to prevent other peple from stealing it.
Step 7: Make it flat and cut into 60 slices 1 for each minute in 1 our.
Step 8: Put in the oven set the timer to 30048813.2884 seconds and put the temperature on 'Volcano' setting.
Step 9: If you think it is take to long, then get yor alarm clock and set it to now so that it will ring and you can take it out.
Step 10: Take it out uv the uvin wen it is redy and go to bed. In the morning eat pizza and also eat yor hands bi mistake.

Do what Firestorm did to Hypno-Disc in the playoffs. Go full force, don't back down and give it everything you've got!

Yeah, usually the best idea is to recover from the initial hit and spend as much time as possible preventing the spinner revving up again.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

Thanks guys. When I first saw that thing I almost had a heart attack, but you guys have really given me the self-confidence to take Invertigo on.

That's the thing... the parts won't be in until tomorrow. I originally intended to enter the antweight class, but there were no spots left so I decided to build a robot for the Fairyweight/UK Antweight class. Right now all I have is an incomplete CAD drawing of the robot I'll be entering.

Yeah... as I said before I have no common sense when it comes do doing things on schedule.

A bit off-topic, but isn't this the idea behind the shape of Spring Breaker from the first season of Robotica?

I believe the builder claimed it would turn any possible blunt-force hits into a minor, glancing blow. Seemed to work too.

and hope you have good top armor(cause when you whack Invertigo it'll fly and it can possibly land to your bot weapon first, landing a big hit at your top).
fixed

Only if it's very thick, and spinners will just slice through it anyway.

You're much better off with atleast a titanium front panel if you're looking at taking on spinners.
