Good luck with the AW, I've never tried building any real robots tbh - AW seems pretty hard to fit to to me. I'd be a FW guy. But yeah good luck XD

All I can say to help is this:

Carbon Fiber sheets are sold on eBay for reasonable prices.

The sheets are very very easy to cut with a dremel kit.

Dremel Kits are you absolute friend when building a small bot. I highly recommend you look into getting one.

Make sure you use a dust mask and saftey gogles when cutting carbon fiber. The dust is very fine and very bad for you. Also UHMW Polycarbonate is a great construction material. I made my whole bot out of it and it is still in great shape after winning against two sawbots. Side note what every you hear do not use hacked servos for drive. They just aren't compettive anymore.

Check out
http://www.robotmarketplace.com/store.html (good for general everything parts)
http://kitbots.com/  (have a beetleweight and hobby weight kit as well as drive motors) (I used the 18volt drill motors in Shish-Kabot with no major problems)
http://banebots.com/  (drive motors) (never used them but I know alot of guys who do)

Good Luck!

ok heres a list of the parts i use on my ants, with success i might add =P

(2) Fingertech Spark gearmotors for my drives 20:1 for quickness http://www.fingertechrobotics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ft-spark16-xxx

(2) BaneBots 3-9 amp speed controllers, great little controller and if it should ever get damaged they will fix it for 15$ rather then you having to by a brand new one http://banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309

Turnigy 1900Kv brushless outrunner, very powerful and cheap motor  http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2110&Product_Name=TR_28-26_16A_1900Kv_Brushless_Outrunner

and turnigy 18amp speed controller also great for its price http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4312&Product_Name=TURNIGY_Plush_18amp_Speed_Controller

and i use a common sense rc 7.4v 800mah lipo simply because there rather cheap and can go two fights if i need to http://cgi.ebay.com/Common-Sense-RC-800mAh-7-4V-Eflite-Blade-CX2-CX3-Lipo_W0QQitemZ180482353480QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2a05962948

and i use a GWS transmitter and receiver system, but anything off this page will work great for you http://www.fingertechrobotics.com/products.php?cat=Radio+Equipment

Happy building
