Wasn't a GTM guy, it was a guy on music reviewing forum I'm on. The vid basically just consisted of him making random insults to various forum member's mothers, with such lines as: "Your mother swallows some many cocks at once they call her neck the neck of the woods". It wore thin pretty quickly.

Posting "I don't like dubstep" is different than "ZOMG DUBSTEP SUCKS AND NOBODY SHOULD EVAR LISTEN TO IT IF THEY DO THEY ARE RETARDED".
I don't recall posting anything along that line - I didn't criticise the listeners and didn't go that ridiculously far; I just said it's annoying and often poorly composed, which is true (see your own commment earlier about dubstep on youtube; I don't think people will disagree that most dubstep on youtube is worth ignoring).
Besides, 090901 was clearly not being particularly serious.

I dunno, I like the snow personally. Just tends to be bad for transport in the UK since not many people really get to drive around in the snow. Causes crashes and stuff.
English people should get used to the conditions and not close schools. We go to school if it would be -30 Degrees and 1 meter layer of snow.

One of the reasons it seems to be such a misconception is a misinterpretation of live electronic performances. People "not in the know" watch videos of Electronica or Dubstep producers playing live, and all they see is them twisting knobs and pushing buttons and they assume what they are watching is the producer making the song live (hence why they think it must be so easy and simplistic.) Not knowing what they are seeing is just live remixing rather than producing.
Explain to me what is wrong with anybody being able to make electronic music "ridiculously easy". Isn't that the whole beauty of it?
Nothing at all, its just that those who have spent large portions of their lives learning how to play a difficult instrument get frustrated at the fact that anyone can make music by clicking their mouse a few times and or by twisting a few knobs. Even though its no different from an inexperienced person strumming their hands over a guitar a few times and calling it a "song." They don't realize it can take just as much talent/skill/effort as learning how to make an organic instrument sound nice.
I learnt from that argument when I learnt that being able to play things on a guitar did not nessecarily consistute the actual mix sounding good at all; not to say I'm bad a mixing nessecarily, although I definitely was and even I can't perform miracles with the distortion tone in Ampkit, but even if you're Steve Vai you're going to sound like poo with the wrong setup. Electronic music avoids all that nonsense in the first place.

I don't think he wrote, "I am close minded and enjoy shoving my dislike of whatever the hell you like in your face" Anyway, there is probably okay dubstep out there. I don't especially wish to find out as I don't have the desire to dig through a pile of tripe to find out, but there are probably some decent tracks somewhere.
