Locking this topic and applying a 9 month ban on G.K. from posting any discussion topics and a further 3 month ban on moving any discussion topics to signups after this time period. You may lift this ban by completing this tournament but you will not regain your lost host point.
This is such a shame because it had a nice concept and hype going for it.

But this forum... I'm done. I don't want to be around anymore. Things aren't the same anymore. It's no longer a good place for modders.
I highly doubt the reaction would have been any different way back when. It's an expected reaction from the very community that wanted the game the most. We're complaining because it's bad, we don't care that they had a short time to do it in.

(please Yugitom, regardless of whether this tourney will be completed or not, after this, apply to me a permanent ban on hosting tourneys)
I'd never do that :P First off, no-one has ever received a permanent tournament hosting ban. Also, I'm sure you'll have the willpower not to host another tournament if you think you can't stick to deadlines. I wish you the best of luck finishing this tournament in time :)

Can we talk about the photoshop for the teams at the end though?[/spoiler]
I didn't even notice that but that's a really nice touch! That was a great match, looking forward to the rest :)

ITT: Overreacting
I think this is an appropriate reaction to a sequel to the game on which this forum is based. This is our way of telling the devs how disappointed we are in their game.

I'm disgusted so far. Jesus
This. The online doesn't work, the host wins as soon as the match starts :P

Replica tournaments would be better suited to Personal Tournaments, although I quite enjoyed taking over Jonzu's replica tournament. Try what you want, Wen, and see what the reaction is, because I don't think too many people are willing to offer their opinion on certain tournament ideas unless they had the option to vote on it.

Thanks yugi, you explained that way better than I would have. But I would like to again point out that the "surprise change" had indeed been planned out since Day 1 of the tournament.
Yugi did a great job encouraging discussion without giving away the twist in the signups thread, by the way. Thanks dude!
No problem :) Just noticed those team names, too. I'm loving them, haha.

i'm going to be the party pooper :
-we kinda built partly to counter the opposite bot type, now we are supposed to fight with them ? this invalidates quite a bit of our building
That's the whole point of the gimmick. -this has always been a rival thing, now it's just changed completely without asking people
If he asked people, the gimmick would have been spoiled. -i fully understand that this robot behavior problem is a real problem and it needs to be fixed (i do not mind changes when they are necessary) but then change the arena to something similar that doesn't have the rushing problem, not the whole gimmick. And ask entrants for ideas if you change the arena : they're the ones concerned about this.
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by this. He didn't change the gimmick on a whim, it was planned. All he did was change the starting points to better suit tag matches. He didn't change the gimmick based on rushing because there would have only been two robots fighting each other, anyway. -it's changed at the last minute when everyone entered their bots which makes it infuriating.
Again, the whole point of the tournament. Anyway, I love the good majority of the bots in this tournament! Can't wait to see some videos of them.

I just posted that picture :P How are people getting 'ninja'd'? I have a setting on my account that informs me of a new post since I starting writing a message when I click 'Post'. Did I enable this in my options at an early point or has everyone turned it off for some reason? Because, when starting out (and even now), I was confused as to how people are getting beaten to the punch but they still post their message.

Interesting new bot photo. What do people think of it?

I think it could make for some nicely paced, fun matches. I'm all for it if you are actually able to do it and have the commitment.

It's just Yugioh, a card game. Considering your affinity with Pokemon, I'm assuming you caught on to the Yugimons bit but this has nothing to do with Pokemon.

Tbf, I only like The Devil's Bleeding Crown and A Warrior's Call from Volbeat. Their other songs seem a bit slower and less energetic to me, from what I've heard, anyway. I may try looking into their discography a bit more to find a song like them.

When asking about deadlines, people may be more inclined to extend it as much as possible because procrastination is lovely. If you don't mind this, I won't stop you but I would highly advise you just enforce whatever deadline suits you best.
