Ironforge TC Showcases / Re: Badger does Ironforge (ex-TRB)
« on: June 18, 2018, 10:42:20 PM »
bump idc bots need replies

sucks about the wedges. even like 2 ballasts may help the wedges and keeping from being pushed around. I do like aesthetically how the hammer looks, im not really sure you need a beta with a hammer that light though. if you downgraded it and used the weight to boost the width of your drive i'd do it. I would guess this thing turns like an aircraft carrier. I'm also still not sold on using crushing teeth for FS but honestly FS suck so hard in ironforge anyway i don't really know what else you'd use. i do kinda wish you could find a way to get even light plows on this thing though, any fracture at all helps so much on trapping designs.

got a great look to it though padre

im still not really sure why we have either tbh
likes are more useful than rep but that isnt saying much

It looks amazing as I told you before. It would feel wrong to make an IF showcase just for one bot that I didn't even skin myself so if you want you can show my entry as well in yours buddy :)
i'll take you up on that probably.

but theres more important things to do here right now boyyos  :gawe:
like this one mmmm gurl

HW version of crab cake basically except this one is way sexier. hammers on the side are angled up ever so slightly to hit bots on top of it. drive system is  :thumbup and turns great since the wheels are so far apart and close to the center axis of mass or whatever.

has an alternate weapon system (powered by long snapper) and im not sure which one I like better so I think i'll keep them both PLEASE MOM

haven't tested either much but i honestly dont care how good they are, theyre just so mmmm

lawnmower blades are neat for the cool factor but wouldn't ramplates help out more in that situation? neither protects the zteks really. I mean it wouldn't change that much but still

you may be able to get some motor protection on if you sacrifice like 2 irons from each weapon but its your call. I do kinda worry about the weapon getting amputated.

other than that, very solid imo

I get the idea of the like button and in certain situations it could work, but any feature that encourages people not to leave actual feedback on a showcase, which we are already severely short of, in favour of just clicking a 'Like' button isn't something this site needs ATM, in my opinion.
yes

BOOOOM BABYY
this is my tag team entry with Thyrus. were were trying to think of team themes and were like "uhhhhhh well I guess we are the only two people on the forum that played this semi-obscure racing game from 1997? let's skin the bots like cars I guess???"
so we I did. ripped the 128x256 textures directly out of the game using a utility I had lying around and spent the afternoon maken some prety robbots. hopefully thyrus shows his or I might have to

its just a coincidence we skinned them like the cars really, we both made ours before having any theme ideas in mind. I wanted to make mine be extremely tough from the sides and back cause in tag teams you get ganged up on by enemies (and teammates). front is a heater plow and the sides are dark plows, I imagine this will hold up pretty well. has like tite 5 or pl 10 or something too.

very zippy with dualbird drive. powerful weapon. no major complaints from myself really except it sucks at self righting. but most cars cant self right anyway i guess.

pls like and subscribe :gawe:

at least you can't dislike stuff. that's the last thing we need

not a huge fan of it showing up on the user profile though

OK then I have a question

Why do people like traps more than girls
because they didn't have a strong father figure in their lives
to be fair, he is totally correct

also if i do recall, matt never outright said lra2 was "permabanned" iirc in the old discord he said he was banned indefinitely, so this autism over what permabanned means can stop
Just saying

[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

also this is the second time he was permabanned (lra2 account was as well) so he's like ∞ x ∞ now in case just ∞ wasn't enough

why are we debating this exactly? he got permabanned. he is banned permanently. shouldn't have banned him permanently in the first place if it's not permanent.

To everyone who has given feedback, thank you!  We are frantically trying to put everything together for an Alpha release.

We have been talking to lots of real-life roboteers to get permission to use their robots in our game.  We have some bad news and some good news on this front.

The Bad:
Display rights to all of the Robot Wars robots are owned by the BBC.  Both they and Battlebots are rightfully protective of their intellectual property.  This means that we do not have permission to use Carbide, Eruption, or Original Sin in our commercial release.  All three robots will be removed from the game.

The Good:
Many of the roboteers themselves are really excited to share their unlicensed designs.  We have permission from several of the teams to use their other designs from the live circuit.  We should be able to get a few of these designs into the next few builds.

Cool, will it be steam?

Yup - Steam will be our primary distribution platform.  We are working on putting together everything we need for the Steam page right now, but we won't publish the Steam page until we have a complete BotLab where you can build robots and put them into game.

Make it $9.99 early access (trust me, do not say $10.00 it looks expensive while $9.99 looks cheap) to bribe them into buying, note that you should change the price to $19.99 when 1.0 is released.

Thanks for the tip!  I’m not sure about Early Access yet.  At this point we are limited more by time than funding.  If we were to do Early Access, I would like to keep its time period short.
do what you need to do man. it's easy to cave into even small pressures on projects like this. you're never going to be short on people offering their two cents. I hope that you can take as much time as you can to make a quality game, but I also know that deadlines and costs and such can be very burdensome.

what you've shown is extremely impressive, likely the most finished robot combat game we've had in years already. I hope your team is able to finish it, and I'd buy it as soon as I could.

Lesson learned, guys.

Be as much as of an obnoxious, confrontational asshole as you want. They’ll literally just forget about it and let you back in a few months after kicking you out for good.

It’s a great system.

youre totally right considering it has already happened several years ago already. avalanche was already a multiaccount from lra2 after he got banned

Then why put them outside?
cause irl building is looks over combat efficiency
RA2 is not designed in a way that bots that look realistic fight well
