bigass chewblade OP Genuinely, the larger one looks like it would be sweet for VSes.
I'm on the fence about keeping it's original circular collision mesh (which is terrible for punting but good for saws), or matching the collision mesh up to the visual mesh so it's better at punting while making it a bit worse at being a saw.
Anyway, I made the beater bars a more visually appealing by making the big ones longer instead of outright larger.

It always irked me how pathetic looking the small beater bar looked, so I beefed them up a little. The small beater bar is slightly shorter than the old DSL large beater bar, and here's why:
(Image removed from quote.)
It's now exactly one snap-to-grid square long (which I will not be referring to as STGS units for convenience). The smallest square you can make legally in the bot lab is 0.22 wide by 0.22 long, which is how long the new small beater bar is. The medium beater bar is 2 STGS units, and the large one is 3 STGS units.
(BTW, I don't know why they're so grey in the first 2 pictures, they're supposed to be a bit blue-ish like in the third picture)
Honestly, I really like that. Do the stats scale with the size, and can we perhaps see these in DSL 2.3? Also, it's fine as grey. having them as a weird shade of blue doesn't really work.

All I'm saying is TRUST me, it is not a hoax. Like seriously.
this means it is a hoax
no, it means that craaig is involved.
It's a massive conspiracy to keep your hopes up probably

It's neat, but seems fragile to me.
Seems fragile? That just means it's great to rip apart! I actually really like the way you can't see the chassis anywhere. BFE, or is it hidden in one of those hubs?

Y'know, I actually prefer the selection of wheels in this mod to DSL 2.2, despite a few duplicates.

X-Terminator 2 is still incredibly weak, but my -word- do I love throwing robots out of this Series 7 arena.

Sic made something that could do this a while back: *PICTURES* Is something like this what you're thinking of?
Yeah, something like that, except it also has support for components and AI files. Fotepx is a dev on RA3 you heard it here 1st
The idea isn't an RA3, but more of an RA2.5 - think of a Rumble Mode in RA2, where you could have up to 32 robots in an arena at once, all with a much more modern physics engine. I understand that current levels only have 4 bot spawn points max, but that it is possible to place more. I'd also need someone with basic mapmaking knowledge to pull this off.

I mean bot files are by definition made by RA2 and made to be read by RA2... what else could read them ?
I was hoping to write a simple program that could display .bot files in a 3D space, or perhaps decompile .bot files into a format more understandable by modern engines.

Are there any programs, other than RA2, that can read .bot files?

Just tested using my 970, using RA2 at 1080p. Launched the game and did a test battle between 2 AI, once with VSYNC forced on once without. Both times my GPU raised like 3 degrees from idle temps. I also had 16x Antisotropic Filtering and 4x AA forced. (Image removed from quote.)
Conclusion: I really don't think it matters. Out of curiosity, what card do you have?
AMD Radeon HD 7950. It used to gain an extra 20 degrees or so, but now that I've got a new fan, the problem isn't as bad. Still noticeable, though.

I don't think it does any harm. If you're determined, you can set an FPS limit using nVidia inspector, or (I think) MSI Afterburner. Or you can force vsync for RA2, which will limit it to 60FPS.
It does do harm, 'cuz it overworks my GPU. I have an AMD card, so NVidia's inspector software won't do any good. MSI Afterburner doesn't limit FPS.

My current computer is running RA2 at 3400FPS, which isn't really nessescary. Any way to dial it down, either in-game or otherwise?

Either version'd look cool, really I just wanna see you flex your creative muscle when it comes to those wheel arms.

yep.. not my best work

Would look better as a nightmare-style spinner. I haven't seen one of those in DSL 2.2 yet.

Flipper arm goes through the NPC. Needs thicker armour, too.

There's a bug with eruptions flipper?
Yeah - even after you knock his flipper off, he can still flip you around as if nothing happened.

Yo those shell panels are vulnerable. Yo bottom armour + stabilisation > 4WD. How stable is it though?
Not very much. In a recent revision, I downgraded to regular NPC's to tack on some bottom armour, and dropped it to Alu 5. The shell panels rarely, if ever, get knocked off in battle before the hammers do.

Day 2 of this, and already we're entering "stupidly generic" teritories. Actually a bit better than it looks, thanks to the buffs hammers recieved, but could still be gutripped to oblivion. Tite 5.

[error]Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 180 days. Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.[/error] Oh god, really? Geez, it's been too long. Anyway, I'm gonna upload a bot every day from here on out until I run out of bots to show you guys. Why not. Probably the most optimized a LW HS can be at this point, until someone makes a version using just a Batterypack and an ant, and spents the rest of the weight on Tite 3. There's something for you to do, if you lack inspiration!
