Existing Games / Re: Why the Wii is bad, childish and overrated.
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:15:09 PM »
Just because my arguments have been used before doesn't make them any less valid.  Hell, the fact that the argument keeps recurring so much without being properly put down speaks lengths about it's validity.  Plus, you're missing my point.  The point was that, minus the shovel-ware and filler games, the Wii's game lineup is very weak.  It doesn't mean all the games are shovelware, but it does mean that the good games are few and far between.  In addition, most of the good games are made by Nintendo themselves (that being said, a good number of them are games that are reused concepts that have already been beat to death).

The Wii's game lineup lacks good shooters and good racing games (two things that could have really taken advantage of the motion controls).  Also, and I know I'm gonna get crap for saying this, it lacks more "hardcore" games.  Before you argue for the case of "casual" games, do keep in mind there's a much less expensive alternative if you want to play lackluster games for the sake of wasting time.

This is mainly true, but there are some good shooters (see Goldeneye) and racers (the F1 games aren't bad on Wii). It does need more hardcore games to make it more relevant to many markets though, I agree, although I think this is partially due to developers thinking the same as many of you think - 'It's a kids console'.
It has so much potential for those types of games, when developers like Treyarch (which so many of you hold highly) don't actually work with it at all and just send awful ports.
If these guys made something FOR the Wii, I bet it'd blow a lot of people's minds. So IMO it's not the console, it's not the buyers, it's not Nintendo (who have made some sweeet Metroid games on Wii), it's 3rd party developers.

Although I'm almost sure that my opinion will be corrected by Nate in a minute.

I was planning to, yeah. And even if I didn't I speed all matches up 2x on WMM because my laptop can be slow, so it would've sounded baad XD

The library was mostly filled with shovelware, and most of the 'good' games feel like the same games from years ago.

Examples:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
SSBB
Mario Kart Wii.

That's just what I see.

Every COD/generic-blockbuster-shooter game feels different? News to me ;p

It seems mainly the more conventional tournaments are more popular right now.
(Only reason I haven't yet entered is I have a save-me-a-spot so I can keep working on my entry a little more)

Madman makes sense. Also, the Wii's processing power is inferior. It can't do as much.

You confuse me. You keep making statements that could close the discussion/argument, then say something else that just riles it all up again (':

I feel now that the only real point against the Wii is the games.

I'm a bit of a Ninty fanboy but I agree with this.

Would you rather play BO on the Wii or 36O?

^Implying
    1) Black Ops was made for the Wii and wasn't a cheap port
    2) The majority of those who play Wii want to play Black Ops.

If people wanted to play COD, they'd buy a console which COD was made for. It's not fair to draw parallels there.
I bet a cheap 360/PS3 port of Red Steel or something similar wouldn't be half as good as the Wii version.

Name is ghey. But HB's points are irrelevant.

1. Oh no! Almost as if the Mario series isn't intended to be grimy and realistic
2. See above
3. You heard the cover for a game looked cartoony so it's a bad console?
4. Not at all. You obviously haven't played many good Wii games.
5. What?
6. Oh god a bad game means the console is awful, not the people who developed the game
7. Oh god a game you think is creepy means the console is awful.
8. Avoidable
9. 11 % of what are good? The games? Yeah I agree. The platform has been spammed with 'PARTY GAME 36445' and 'DANCEATHON 935' etc. But the good games are damn good.

Just my views ;)
