The aim of this tournament is simple: Beat "The Clock", a fearsome Cruiserweight Ring Spinner that can call time on your bot's life with a second's notice. You have Three minutes to get the job done, but every second counts, as with twelve bots vying to knock The Clock's block off, you better move fast!
Time Puns.
Rule Stuff: -I can AI, although AI'ing yourself is encouraged. -1 entry per person, to a maximum of 12 (for every hour on a 12-hour clock), and changes can be made up until the deadline. Entries will only be accepted once I have received and tested them. There are no spots reserved, so entries with issues will be refused and that spot may be taken in the meantime. - Issues mentioned above being an error with the bot, being too heavy, stupid/racist names/skins. Don't push your luck. -I will not be entering, due to being responsible for "The Clock", in order to remain impartial.
-Middleweight DSL Standard (IRL robots will be accepted at the entrant's risk) (Build style must be stated upon submitting the bot) -DSL 2.2 + IRL Packs 1 & 2 -No out-of-game modifications, nor any in-game hacks -No cheatbot2 -Component Freedom is allowed, to a max of three uses (which must be documented when submitting the robot). Rule of 7 break is freely allowed. -A maximum of 1 of ANY of these components, total. Mechavore disc, Microvore disc, Moros blade, Frenzy hammer, Minion disc, Overkill blade -All robots must show controlled movement, however, 1WD Crawlers and Clusterbots will be allowed. Crawlers will have a 20Kg weight allowance. Clusterbots must add up to the 399Kg weightlimit, but can be different weights. -Meltybrain SnS and Trinity Spinners are banned. -Arena will be The VaporZone by 090901 -The first havok explosion in a match will cause a restart. The second havok explosion will end the match and add a 3-minute penalty to their time. Bots causing deliberate havok explosions will be given a 5 minute penalty.
Format: -Format will be a time trial versus against a 'Boss' opponent, named "The Clock". -Fastest time after all 12 bots have fought The Clock wins. -Matches will be the standard 3 minutes. -Results will be determined by the in-game timer. -If after all 12 bots have competed, there is a 2,3 or 4 way tie for 1st place, there will be a 4-way rumble to determine the winner. A tie involving 5 or more bots will result in re-running their matches with the clock, either until a rumble can be enacted, or a clear winner is determined. -There is also the possibility for 3 rumbles to involve all entrants after the main competition. These are just for fun. Only half a clusterbot will be eligible for these rumbles, if any are entered.
Prizes: These are all up for discussion
-A Gold 'Swiss Made' DSL Disc set based off The Clock's appearance. These will have boosted stats above their equivalent size, and be able to cause modest damage in their own right. -A hammer called "The Sands of Time" with an additional frequency-based damage stat. -The opportunity to build the next 'Boss' robot for the next Beat the Clock tournament.
Both component prizes will be included in IRL Pack #3, and be legal for the winner to use in any of my future tournaments using the IRL Components packs. See below for further info on this.
So, I've done a lot of new things in less than a month back on the forums. So naturally, I want to try my hand at something else I've not tried before. I want to keep it small in the hopes of it being a quick and gratifying experience for all involved. So, here are some points I want to make here that are open for discussion.
In General - The general spirit of the competition is beating 'The Clock' in a quick and cool way, that bot is not supposed to be some uber-efficient killer, but not a walkover either. How you go about defeating it is down to you, with a few exceptions. It is also why Standard and IRL entries will be accepted, mainly because I am an IRL nub and nobody gives a **** about IRL But if you think you can win quick with an IRL bot or a cluster, or even a crawler, you're welcome to try.
The Prizes - In the past tournaments have had their own specific component prizes, but have either died off shortly after, or the parts have never been heard of again. I never even received the components I won from that Team Challenge tourney from years ago. So, my instinct is to make them a part of the IRL packs, so they're more widely available for everyone to play about with for their own personal enjoyment and showcases, but also allow some advantage to winning a tournament, and at the same time let people know what to expect from them. A longer-term goal, which probably won't work (lol optimism) is that other tournament hosts using the IRL packs also allow previous winners to use those items in their tournaments, and maybe offer their own prizes to be included in future IRL packs. So maybe there is more encouragement to enter a tournament using IRL packs as you'll be able to use the prizes in more tournaments. Either way, this is probably going to be seen as an abuse of power, or the components are lame.

You will need to make this double elimination, unless your entrants are okay with a single elimination bracket.
Also, what Badger said. You will need to fix the issue in the video.

The battlewens is down, but I don't want to give up on this!
Rules
16 Entire Stock 1.4 Heavyweight unrealistic. No Trinity and meltybrain SnS Multibot allowed. 3:00 Minutes Match bots must show controlled movement 7 rule of breaker is allowed but RA2CF banned Ring Arena BO1 Cheatbot2 allowed is flamethrower but hovercraft, cannon and manget are banned The bracket will work like this: Bots will collect points throughout the tournament based on the following points system: 5 Points for winning a boss battle 3 Points for win 1 Point for Havok DQ win 0 Points for tie (Bot bots have the same score somehow) -1 Points for lose -5 Points for losing a boss battle. After 3 or 4 (if boss battle) rounds of randomized matchups, the 4 bots with the lowest scores will be in what is called the "Danger Zone" and be put up in a 24 hour poll. Whoever collects the most votes will be removed from the tournament, this will repeat until there is 8 bots left, then Danger Zone will be reduced to 3 until only 3 bots remain. Those final 3 bots will face off in a rumble, and whoever wins will be crowned the winner of HeavyDerby. Havok DQ is after a bot havoks 2 time. Prize

Hey, here's a dumb idea, maybe have a little "In Signups:" box on the homepage? Like between the Recent Posts and Who's Online boxes?
That actually sounds pretty neat, although I don't think it's necessary.

New tournament rule proposals:
Currently, the time allocated to an Entry Level tournament host to complete their tournament is 90 days. For Major League hosts, it's 9 months. This leads to Major League hosts being able to run 16 bot tournaments for 9 months, while Entry Level hosts have to settle for 3 months.
I, and a good amount of people on Discord, think that this should change. I propose a standing tournament time limit of 3 months. However, Major League hosts will be able to apply for more time (max of 9 months) to complete their tournament. I will then judge how long I should grant their tournament based on premise and intended size.
Something else that has been brought up is whether or not signup time should count towards a host's overall time limit. Although it is not the host's fault that people do not want to enter their tournament or at what rate people enter their tournament, a host could still be neglecting to check and AI entries in that time, too. So, I propose allowing tournament hosts a free fortnight of signups time that does not count towards their time limit.
Tell me what you think about these, as they may be enforced in the near future.

Inform me if there's a typo or if I have absentmindedly omitted a bot from the splash, but the IF splash is now up. Sorry for the short delay, but the Stock splash should be about by the end of Monday at the very latest.

This is not specifically addressed to you, wakky, but I cannot stress enough, especially to any prospective hosts out there, how easy AI'ing is. You don't need to know how to code. You simply need to know what to copy and where to paste. It really is as simple as that.

I formally request that you disqualify Meganerdbomb's HW. The name is absolutely unacceptable.
it's your metagame, it's not like he can really refuse. checkmate, yugitom.
But, he ain't a host

Fairly sure Trov will bring it back once it's fixed, as it was buggy the day it was removed.

What am I not doing that should be done?
Umm...
It was taken away months before that thread was created. This tells me it wasn't a huge deal. Additionally, I saw it the day that it was created but decided to wait and see what others thought before I posted anything because I wanted to get more input.
Tbh, I think you still should've responded, just so we know that you're not simply ignoring our issues. You could have always said why it isn't at the top of the page and then said something one the lines of "what's everyone else's opinion on this matter?" Because, otherwise, no-one would have posted in this topic because they'd only be reaffirming 09's qualms. We already have 7 admins
this cannot and should not be an argument considering that out of those 7 administrators you are the only one that works on managing the site right now. we should not have to wait days or weeks on end to get a response for a simple issue like "hey why is the bot exchange not in the top bar anymore".
+1 I can't realistically make GTM better without more people stepping up so that I have time to do these things.
What do you think we can do to help you, then?

I'm afraid traffic should've increased and will increase with stuff like GTMCS (and possibly stuff GTMRW and SoG) becoming more frequent. Some people send me rars for one robot, instead of using the Bot Exchange. I'm not too sure how accurate your traffic reports are. Also, if you're afraid of clutter, replace the Bot Exchange with 'Search', unless people actually use the advanced search option, as compared to the quick and easy to use bar at the top right.

THIS THREAD WAS SPLIT TO HERE:
https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=19727.0
So, the time has finally come for the SBV thread! All the splashes are up, see what you think of the bots. The brackets are up, too. So, if you've entered the tournament, you can try and weigh up your chances and anyone can try their hand at predictions. Click here for BBEANS-style rankings of the tournament, so far. *kix mrox changed his name half way through the tournament to TGM. I'll continue to refer to him as kix mrox for this tournament, however. Same with RedSawn, who will be referred to by his previous name RedlineM203.

A new admin will change a lot more than you think. Communication will be more frequent, resulting in more things getting done, therefore the confidence will members and guests will also raise because it feels like they are being listened too.
I wholeheartedly agree with this.

(Image removed from quote.) Rules: Stock, Unrealistic, Standard ruleset (BFE, AAM etc banned as per usual) Heavyweight 8 entrants (will be expanded if it gets enough interest in the first week), 1 entry per person. Multibots allowed, but if one dies they both lose. SnS, Crawlers and ghey stuff banned. Unless you do something cool like that SnS flipper. No more than 20 irons/maces/bear claws on pure HS. Do something interesting. RO7 break allowed, the one that lets you do a million chassis points allowed. 1 havok restart per match per bot, any further havoks count as a round loss. No skinned or custom components (but I have sage's skin pack so I'll let that slide) I can AI, but not very well (ask RedAce about my AI skillz), I strongly suggest you AI your bot yourself. Bots may not be updated Arena will be The Trauma Pit The bye bot is Snake Bite 2
Gimmick: All entrants must only submit a chassis. I'll reject you if you send something that's impossible to build with or just max size etc. Make it interesting folks, get creative with the paintjobs too. After everyone has submitted their chassis, I'll then send every entrant a different chassis the the one they submitted You CANNOT change the paintjob of the chassis given to you. There will be a deadline after all the chassis have been distributed to get your finished bot back in. Any slowpokes will be replaced by a byebot
Signups: 1: 2: 3: 4: 5: 6: 7: 8:
Signups will end a week from approval, at which point everyone will receive someone else's chassis. You'll then have a week to submit your final bot. Anyone who doesn't submit a bot in that time will be replaced by a bye-bot. The bracket/group system will be a scaled down version of the PC group/bracket system.
This is now a signups topic and the rules quoted may not change. Have fun, you've got 9 months.

In b4 all the bots that didn't make it are way better than the one who did
If you're on the GTM Discord, you may already know that's kinda true.

I believe we have enough global moderators, however, I'm flattered that my name has been mentioned. I definitely think that it would extremely healthy for the forum if either Craaig or Kill were to be promoted to an admin position.

BORING RULES: -Ironforge, standard building style, HW -No cheatbot parts, custom parts, etc. -Multibots are allowed, but they must both follow all the building rules (that is, each half is a Mr. Bones) -SnS are not allowed -Crawlers are not allowed -BOTS MUST SHOW CONTROLLED MOVEMENT -No BFE, AAM, EXP, or whatever other crazy acronym you guys use -Rule of 7 break is allowed, other SergePatcher features are not -Arena will be the Ring Arena, 3 minute matches -If a bot gets thrown off of the arena, it loses, regardless of whether RA2 decides to end the match or not -Double elimination bracket, best of 1 matches (may increase to best of 3 if very few people enter) -Unlimited entrants, one bot per person -Havok rule: The standard "1 havok = reset, 2 havok = disqualified" kinda thing -I reserve the right to disqualify any bot
THE GIMMICK: -All bots must be built from the chassis of the original Mr. Bones' Wild Ride, which you can download here. -Nothing on this chassis may be changed, with the following exceptions: -You may re-angle his arms, as long as each arm consists of one 80-cm light extender and one 45-degree angle for a shoulder -You may change the skin (but why would you want to? It's already perfect) -You may add as many components as you like (up to the weight limit), including baseplate components.
MY ROBOT: -I will enter with Bonechill: (Image removed from quote.)
TL;DR: Clone Clash but with memes.
Signups will close on October 15th, at 11:59 PM.
