General Support / Re: RA2 download not working properly!
« on: March 22, 2016, 04:15:06 AM »
I've linked him to this forum page, so he'll see wha we're typing.

I asked him if he had a .rar extractor.

Him: It still won't let me access the files that I have. The .rar. is working, but the file just sends me back to the download screen. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

This is the link I sent him:
https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=4

Here is our conversation...

Me: If you go to GameTechMods website, you can download the game Robot Arena 2 for free. Then you'll be able to find good tutorials for building a robot on YouTube =)

Him: Well, I have been trying for the past little while and all I've gotten are viruses. Haha.. I went to the official page and it doesn't actually run the game. Says I'm missing a Python program. When I downloaded what they said I needed, I got a virus, thankfully my computer picked up on it! Do you have any ideas?

Me: Did you try this link? https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=4

Him: Yes, sir! That was the first link I tried, and it didn't download an actual file, but a link to a file, which is what gave me the virus. Haha

General Support / RA2 download not working properly!

Hello!

I've been talking to somebody who wants to make a robot to enter my new series. I sent him to this site and the download link for the full game. However, he says that it doesn't work properly and contains a virus. Could somebody with the power please check this? =)

Thanks very much!
Adam

Okay, I have five entrants! After the next episode, there will be space for one more. First come first serve when that happens!

1. Red - Patrick Rowberry
2. Blood Shed - Red Ace
3. Signal Jammer - Gauche Suede
4. Thrackerzod
5. AS Hex - Mr AS

45
It's just hidden components, not a real 'cheat' as such. They're still Stock components ;)

I'm not too familiar with them, but I guess if they don't provide an unfair advantage, they are fine!

1. Red - Patrick Rowberry
2. Blood Shed - Red Ace
3. Signal Jammer - Gauche Suede
4. Thrackerzod
5.

One spot left before I close entries.

I think a working online mulitplayer will be the most appealing feature to new players with this game... Especially with the new Robot Wars, there will be a lot of people that will want to battle their own robots! Could be a massive boost to the series, especially if some big YouTubers play it.

47
i guess i'm gonna enter a vaguely irl shw

are cheatbot2 components allowed ? technically they're stock...

If that means cheating, then I can't allow it I'm afraid =P

48
What I'll do, to avoid getting drowned in applicants, I'll make it so that only 5 people can enter at a time. You'll also see the order of when they'll challenge the at the time. Once a robot is eliminated, I'll allow somebody else to enter and they'll appear on the list.

List:

1. Red -Patrick Rowberry
2. Blood Shed - Red Ace
3.
4.
5.

You can enter any robot you like, any weight, so long as it only uses stock components from the original game. I've done this, since there were a couple of people who were a bit confused about the limitations to enter Banter Wars series 2, that being that I won't allow robots in that will just demolish the rest of the opposition without issue. That will be changed for series 3, when any robot can be entered.

For now, the challenge belt is there so that any robot can enter! This is aimed more at people such as those on this site who are much better at making robots. We could get some great battles out of it!

Also, there is no need to make intros. That's only for Series 2. However, if you want to make one and send it, I'll happily use it. It's just not a requirement for this particular contest =)
If you want to send a robot to challenge the Pulverisor, send me a message over PM!

Tournament Archives / Banter Wars Challenge Belt - Enter your best!
« on: March 19, 2016, 03:34:33 AM »

This is a new little contest on my channel to fill the gap between first and second series. Entrants should use only stock components but that is the only limit! Enter your best stock robot for a chance to win the challenge belt title against the current holder, the winner of Banter Wars series 1!

Good luck!

I'll enter at series 3. When should series 3 start, just so I have a rough deadline to bash something up?

Depends entirely on the popularity of Series 2! If it goes well, Series three will probably come within 2016. Series will probably air over nine weeks in Spring, one episode every Friday.

I actually have a kinda fun, pretty dumb idea for an intro I could do, but it'll be little while before I can actually put it together, probably around 2 weeks or so.  Will you still be looking for intros by then?

In the meantime, I'll try to make a robot of proper caliber and submit that.

Yes =) Best send your robot as soon as you can though before I run out of spaces! Send a PM on here with your bot and I'll send Intro instructions when I can!

Any weight is fine, just as long as it can be beaten in the robot wars arena by a RW series 1/2 standard robot...

Fair enough. I understand.

I've made a beautiful robot, I'll send it your way asap, my good man.

Nice one!

54
As long as it fits it the arena and can be beaten by small robots, it'll be fine!

55
Any robot weight is accepted.
I understand you have a quality control limit but does this mean we can enter SHW sacks of sh**?

Yes!

56
Yeah, I'll put something together.

Do you need AI lines?

AI lines would be useful, but not essential =)

If you wish to enter, message me here or via YouTube. Either is fine! You will most likely be entered into a side competition, though quick entries may get into the main tournament! Unless I get over 60 entries here, in which case I can double the number of heats and have 128 competitors instead of 64.

Then it would REALLY be like Robot Wars.

Yep! 16 heats, 2 semi-finals and one final! =D Each with side-competitions

58
Any robot weight is accepted.

With regard to robots, the PM's Pulverizor (Series 1 Champion) was definitely overpowered. It will not be entered into the next series, so don't worry about coming up against anything that powerful! If you want to enter something powerful, I'd recommend entering series 3 where there will be no limit.

However, for now, robots will be relatively weak. This is because the majority of robots entered are for my fellow YouTubers who have only just been introduced to the game. I don't want to scare them off just yet! =P

Additionally, I need introductions from each competitor. Preferably a video introduction, but I will allow just audio. More info to come on Wednesday on the YouTube channel, A Heap Of Games.

Any more questions, just ask! =)

Hello! I'm back again.

Hoping this is a good place to post this. If not, could a mod place it where it belongs?

I recently started a show called Banter Wars on my YouTube channel, building my own robots and putting them through a Robot Wars-Like Tournament to find a champion. However, for series 2 and beyond, I want other people entering robots. So far, I have a full lineup for Series 2, but I could do with some more robots for the side-competitions.

If you're interested in taking part, I'd love for you to create you own robot and join. The only pseudo-rule is that the competitors are NOT done on DSL, so they only use components from the original unaltered game. Aside, the robots are up to the standard of Series 1 or Series 2 Robot Wars, so don't make it too good! =P

In Series 3, this will change. I will allow use of DSL and the robots can be as good as you want them to be. However, I'm not accepting entrants yet.

The production of the episodes is to a high standard, and you can see the Final of Series 1 here:

Interested in joining? Leave a message here or send one privately =D

Thanks!

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: My YouTube channel!

Hi again!

I've started a new series on my channel that is basically a bad rip-off of Robot Wars. I've called it Banter Wars!

There are 6 heats consisting of 36 robots created by my YouTube channel's characters. 6 will enter the Grand Final at the end, and one will be named Champion!

What do you think?! Here's episode one:
