Back to judging criteria for a bit, I think Aggression should be essentially split into two categories; one point for general aggressiveness, and the other for 'primary weapon' aggressiveness.
Also, has anyone else noticed Donald Hutson has been pitted against Adam "Late Hit" Bercu - again?

From what I've read, aggression is all about your main weapon, and if your main weapon fails your kinda SOL.
The Sawblaze vs Razorback desicion was just as bad if not worse imo. Razorback's a cool bot though, so I'm not too upset over it. That's some crap rule. It's like in football/soccer if people considered Giroud a better player than Iniesta because he scores more goals. This was ill conceived.
iirc the new rule came from the feedback regarding Bite Force not using its active weapon during a majority of its fights.
Uuuuuuuuuugh. Has nobody learned anything in 14 years? Anyways, here are my opinions on the fights and the bracket. Better late than never. Los fights: Bronco kind had that one in the bag; props to Blacksmith for sticking it out to the bitter end. Glad they got the wildcard.
Dang, Deathroll looked awesome, too bad they got paired with CAP'M Shrederator. Though I am glad Team 'MERCUH finally got to prove themselves. I kinda wanted Deathroll to get a wildcard, but I think they were too 'in a bajillion pieces' to qualify and/or accept.
beta v. Lucky was quite an even matchup, I was thinking that the loser would get a wildcard anyways. Glad beta finally beat (durhurhur) the curse.
Man, Minotaur is really gonna carve deep into this season's tourney. This fight gave me my first taste of Riobotz power. Feel bad for Photon Storm being fed to the beast though; a wildcard would've been nice, but like Deathroll, maybe the damage was too much to fix.
Well well, Icewave managed to get a bit of revenge and prove they're more that a ridiculously powerful spinning bar on wheels. SubZero should have gotten a wildcard, but, again, maybe the damage was too great for them to continue.
...what the hell. Chrome Fly won by breaking. Burl should have totally won, or at least gotten a wildcard. Crying shame here.
...aaaand back to the drawing board for Coolrobots. Bit of a shame, as they showed us a video of them self-righting.
Odd that they tldr'd Tombstone's fight, though the outcome was kinda obvious. Props to Black Ice for at least looking somewhat intact in the aftermath.
And here we have ChompGate. Los sigh. IMO, Disc O should have won that one, seeing as Chomp was on its side half the time, to hell with the disc not working. Loser should have gotten a wildcard regardless, so Disc O's absence from the bracket sucks that much more.
Ultraviolent proves once again that it's all spectacle and no substance (or working wheels). Hypershock tore the flopper a new one, and I'm confident it will prove itself.
AND WE HAVE FIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*deepbreath*AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Joking aside, it was nice to see Complete Control get some redemption, and to prove that fire is worth... well, anything really. Sucks for Bombshell (and MikeNCR), glad it got the wildcard.
Wow, Warrior Clan is one very short bot. Splatter couldn't touch the thing, sucks for them.
Guess ring spinners can be effective after all, at least if you got the skillandmoney to pull it off. Shame about Ultimo though, was hoping they'd get a wildcard due to legacy power.
I was thinking that Stinger would be a crap draw for Nightmare, but they seemed to be effective nonetheless. Still, glad they got the wildcard.
Why they skipped the returning champ's fight is beyond me. Poor Mohawk though, it's never gotten a chance to show off its weapon (well, it did BARELY against Lycan).
Ah, le art fight. Warhead pretty much humiliated the Obwalden Overlord; at least Rob Knight was honest about his chances *cough*radioactive*cough. Still not too convinced Warhead is improved enough though.
...holy hell, Moebius destroyed itself before Brutus got to it. Guess there's such a thing as too much freaking power. Though, I'm not sure, but it looked like the SFX bullets may have had a hand in destabilizing Moebius. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
Well well, here we have the big orchestrated (maybe) rivalry of the summer. Anyways, Wyatchi proves itself by running through Ghost Raptor. Pitzer probs got wildcard due to Final Four power, but I kinda want to see if that blade can keep not breaking.
...HOT DAYUM that was an impressive fight! Yeti and Lockjaw were really an even match, and that was a hell of an intense fight from the both of them. I'm glad the loser got a wildcard.
Welp, Mega Tento was either gonna prove its worth or not, and it looks like the latter was the case. Probs got a wildcase due to legacy power.
Cobalt proved itself worthy of being British Tombstone; that bar is just devastating. Glad Overhaul got the Wildcard though, and is free from the 'late hit' stigma.
Despite SawBlaze getting its weapon conked out I think Razorback needed some redemption after last year. Glad it got through.
...aaaand Wrecks proves once again that weaponry is nothing without mobility. Glad Red Devil got to show off what it can do, and that it got through.
...HOLY HELL THAT WAS OVER FAST. I bet if it weren't for the sob story this would have been one of the tl;drs. Anyways, Witch Doctor through.
And now for opinions on los bracket:
-Escape Velocity is so screwed.
-Lockjaw is either gonna flip Brutus or do a repeat of what it did against Yeti. Either way, expect more gunplay.
-WHAT. WHAT. WHAT. WHAT. DO THESE PEOPLE HATE NIGHTMARE!?
-beta gonna beat. Overhaul gonna haul over. beta probably has this one since it can self-right.
-... how is the returning champ not No. 1? Anyways, this could also go either way, though I'm leaning towards Bite Force.
-Even if CAP'M SHREDERATOR! doesn't completely destroy Chomp, the latter will probs be on its side enough that 'MERCUH! will get the win.
-Stinger v. Tento is gonna be... weird. Dunno who wins this one.
-Yeti's invertible, so it'll probably win this one, or at least give Lucky a hard time.
-Chrome fly is so, so screwed. A fitting punishment for cheating Burl out of a slot.
-If Ghost Raptor's blade is as strong as they claim it is, Razorback's gonna have a hard time.
-Welp. Blacksmith's gonna go out, likely in a blaze of glory. Probably literally, if The Gears Awaken is any indication.
-If Warhead goes for the spinner, Complete Control could have a hard time; that is, if the spinner is improved enough.
-Dunno about witch Doctor v. Red Devil. Leaning for Witch Doctor, if only because of experience.
-Hope Bombshell has a good anti-spinner device. If it does, it could win this one.
-S.O.W v. Poison Arrow really could go either way, if Poison Arrow's drum is powerful enough.
-Pretty confident Hypershock can beat Warrior Clan. On a side note, it'll be hella embarrassing if both Wyatchi bots win this.

Will this latest episode be on the ABC website by tomorrow? I'm pretty sure this was the case with Gears Awaken.

Well, I was going to buy RA3 today anyways just to see if it would improve, and now this is giving me an actual reason.
Hopefully this patch will prove the developers are going the RCTW route (release a crap initial version on Early Access for reasons and then fix the game over time), except maybe faster.

Would be cool if we had a gear or chain system.
Maybe someone can make something like this when/if the game stops sucking.

No one but the devs actually KNOWS if it is indeed a sh**ty "finished" game released for a cash grab, or that they actually have been rushed to release something that is obviously in the very early stages of development and shouldn't have been released that early because it was quite obviously not ready for release.
And we will most likely not know it unless a trusted source leaks some info.
I'm inclined to believe/hoping that it's the latter with a bit of the former tied in. The devs seem(ed) enthusiastic enough about developing a game that would satisfy the community, but the only reason they decided to make it now instead of, say, years ago was because Battlebots came back. Besides, with the dev team split into three, and the other two games being all-new there only being eight people max on the dev team, the guys behind RA3 may have bitten off more than they could chew. Then again, they could be functional sociopaths faking the hype for a cheap cash-in, but as I've said, I'm inclined to listen to both Occam's and Hanlon's Razors. EDIT: Thanks Geice.

I'm personally thinking of holding off until right before the sale ends because cheapskate, then waiting to see what the devs do before I get too much into it.
Hopefully they can fix it; if not, refund.

I'm wondering why they decided to show Ultimo Destructo it a bar spinner configuration instead of its way more famous flipper configuration.

Do we know if anyone's asked the dead WHY whatever's broken is broken? Like, for example, are issues such as wedged chassis not registering as such collision-wise or the lack of any sort of speed the result of developer oversight, or are they inherent in the engine?

Oh, and I hate to deviate for a small off topic thing but, I need to address something quickly...
Guys.
2016 will be the year that gaming died.
Oh no. Three game franchises are doing unsuccessfully. Clearly, gaming is doomed in 2016.
Seriously, I can name a lot of great games that came out this year and were successful. Really, I feel that I would have to look pretty hard for some really bad titles. Maybe I'm out of the loop, somehow missed the news about Konami last year, but I still feel 2016 for gaming is going strong. No offense to you, dude.
Okay. I'm done going off topic with that. I just needed to get that off my chest.
Okay, in hindsight, I was a little too rash in predicting the Great Video Game Crash of '16. I was just feeling INCREDIBLY salty over the fact that this one game, which the entire community spent MONTHS getting hyped for, turned out to be a dud, and to a lesser extent, the fact that literally every single game coming out this year that I've been hyped for either sucks or looks like it's going to suck. However, I don't think all has been lost yet. Rollercoaster Tycoon World has been showing marked improvement in the two months it's been out. If that game, spearheaded by A-freaking-tari, can show improvement, then I have hope that RA3 can change for the better. Still, though, between those two I'm going to be veeeery wary of Early Access games in the future. As for MN9, I may just have to wait and see if I find it possible or not.

Dear God.
First, Rollercoaster Tycoon World is released as an unfinished, buggy mess, killing the hype of thousands of dedicated fans.
Now Robot Arena 3 is a unfinished mess as well, crushing GTM's collective soul.
And Mighty No. 9 is shaping up to be a disappointment as well, possibly scuttling the Megaman series for good.
Guys.
2016 will be the year that gaming died.
(Except for Nintendo, probably.)

Watched the preview earlier, here are my thoughts: Match 1: What'd I tell you guys? SoW absolutely dominated. Pretty sure Creepy Crawlies's utter ruination is gonna put the kibosh on future "swarm tactics", unless they're all solid blocks of Hardox on wheels. Also kinda sucks that Ultraviolent apparently couldn't get going, though it's apparently getting a second chance if the picture at the end is anything to go by.
Match 2: The teaser kinda spoiled this one, but yeah, Blacksmith firehammered everything to submission like a boss. Gemini Red put up one hell of a fight though. Would've been funny if Blacksmith actually crushed Afterbyte. I actually expected Basilisk to do a bit more, it seemed like a decent lifter/flipper bot.
Match 3: Someone already made a Luigi-wins-by-doing-absolutely-nothing joke, so I'm kinda out of funny material for this. Anyways, it was kinda dumb/suicidally cocky of Ravi to keep attacking MegabyteInvader; I'd have thought he would have gotten the message before he lost drive. Though IMO, the biggest derp mistake was the producers/whoever was responsible for brackets putting three bots of their caliber together in Round 0; it just seems like a waste to me.
On the other hand, it's nice that they threw Mohawk a bone after the humiliation last year.
Match 4: Okay, this one was surreal. Essentially, Skorpios got shafted and VD: Cat Edition was pwned by La Machine V2.
I expected Black Ice to be fodder for the other two, and I really wanted Skorpios to see some not-getting-stuck-on-the-screws action, it got one hell of a raw deal (plus, if my avatar didn't tell you, I love scorpions); I know I'd have complained if I were in Orion's shoes. Plus, with Bad Kitty being a VD, I expected more from it. And one more thing; did that road block even do anything?
I think this rhetorical question sums up match 4: HOW THE )#@*%^)#*%^(#%*#&*%^*^@#%*)@#^%*#)^#%*)^@$ DID BLACK ICE ACTUALLY WIN THAT!?
EDIT: After a little more consideration, maybe I was a bit too harsh on Black Ice, though with what happened with its competition, it didn't impress me so much. Maybe if it manages to weather the assault from Tombstone/Bite Force without being utterly humiliated/scrapped (or possibly even win), I'll have a better opinion of it.

A couple of images on Getty Images confirm that the four rumbles are:
Lycan/Mohawk/Invader Basilisk/Gemini/Blacksmith Ultraviolent/Creepy Crawlies/Son Of Whyachi Skorpios/Bad Kitty/Black Ice
At this point I think it's safe to say we know the winner of at least one rumble.
Hint: Name starts with an "S", end with an "on Of Whyachi."

@R01: I think the DSL team renamed Tornado "Tempest" because there's already a rather famous robot called Tornado in Robot Wars.
BTW, I believe I remember Iceberg and Bushido giving me trouble back when I played as C.R.U.S.H., but less so than the three I already mentioned.

*storytime incoming*
When I first played RA2 (Even before I got on the forums, I was about 10), I had a major, MAJOR case of n00b (specifically, I didn't know how to attach my controls to my bots, so I was constantly frustrated when my bots wouldn't move), so I just ended up using C.R.U.S.H all the time. Thus, instead of EMERGENCY, my early AI bogeymen were the likes of ALARM, The Boxer, and Tornado.
Also, I've grown attached to Coal Miner; something about the bot just clicks with me. Plus, he probs would have been better if he had a proper motor powering that facespinner of his. I think when RA3 comes out I'm gonna remake him in it along with Barbershop Chop, if the game hasn't already.

Do you guys think there will be a cheatbot3 code for this game? Also, do you think flamethrowers will make an appearance outside of any prospective cheats, seeing as they've been unbanned IRL?

Probs just remake some of my DSL and Ironforge bots, as well as some from Stock.

It's official. Hellachopper is the new Blendo.
Also, it's the closest thing anyone's gotten to an RL Project Trinity.

I believe they said true pyramid bots aren't possible, but a builder could bring the vertices of their chassis really, really close together for a similar effect.

While we're asking, do we know all the competitors in the event? Someone posted a list on Reddit (which I've put in spoiler tags at the bottom of my post) which has about 35 of the 40. Does anyone know of any competitors that the list hasn't gotten yet? (No match results though - that I'm avoiding spoilers for.) Here's the list (warning: spoilers)
