RULES
Game - DSL 2.2
Realistic Rule - IRL
Weightclass - LW / MW / CW / HW
16 Teams (If you want to join forces with another member, go ahead. You can be on a maximum of two teams, regardless of how many robots you make in that team.)
If you can't AI I will try my best to AI for you, just don't complain about it if your robot doesn't win.
You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.

BUILDING RULES
Rule Of Seven Break is allowed for this.
Only in game glitches are allowed -  eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading.
No external editing at all - BFE, AAM and so on. (Except adjusting chassis height. You can do that in BFE.)
Robots with tracks get no weight cushion.
No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers.
Multibots are banned.
You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end.
Nothing from Cheatbot2, you know that.
You cannot have more than one of these on any robot, regardless of weightclass. Mechavore disc, Microvore disc, Moros blade, Frenzy hammer, Minion disc, and Overkill blade.
The IRL packs that DSC has been making are allowed.
Your team must consist of four robots who follow the same design principle. (All flippers, or all VS, or whatever. Imagine Pokemon evolution, but in RA2.)
The team must have a LW, MW, CW, and HW.
For the sake of team-ness, I'd prefer if they had similar names or paintjobs, or some sort of theme.
No stupid names or stupid team names either.

BATTLE RULES
3 minute fights.
What Doesn't Kill You Arena (Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament Arena. GEE WHO'D HAVE THUNK IT?)
Hazards on.
If a robot havoks then I will restart the match. I will keep restarting until there is a havok-free match. Fights with havoks will not be shown.
Single eliminantion(ish) format. The winners of the Qualifiers (LW) go forward as normal to find the champion. The losers go backwards, with the winner of the subsequent rounds being eliminated, in order to find the loseriest loser. In both cases, the weight categories will start low, then go up with each round.
Qualifiers - Lightweights
Quarter Finals - Middleweights
Semi Finals - Cruiserweights
Finals - Heavyweights

If you think I've missed anything out, then say something.
This is now a signups topic and the rules quoted may not change. Good luck, you've got 9 months.

382
New rule in response to recent events. I didn't think this would actually have to be one:
You must not edit any entry you receive unless it is a necessary addition, or edit, to their smartzones (wiring is, also, an obvious exception). Any and all edits to problematic entries MUST be left to the entrant. Any failure to not abide by this rule will result in all matches in which the bot took part in being redone (and any subsequent matches it affects) in order for the entry which was unjustly edited to be represented correctly. If the original entry is problematic and is against the rules of the tournament, the builder must be contacted and be given at least 24 hours to fix the issue, assuming they were not contacted before signups closed. If the builder does not respond or does not wish to edit their entry, the bot must be removed from the tournament and the tournament restarted. If a host breaks this rule and does nothing to remedy the situation, their thread will be locked and a hosting ban of 1 month will be applied. This rule is for both entry level and major league tournaments.

And this is now an active rule:
From the day your sign ups are approved you have 3 months to complete your tournament.
This averages out 1 month for sign ups and 2 videos a week but you may spend the time however you see fit (more sign up time, more video time, whatever)

Once signups start, the host will be given a grace period of 14 days before a 3 month time limit begins in order to complete their tournament. This grace period is also given in major league tournaments.

wakky, you really should've voiced that concern earlier, as I would have called Gulden out on it. I'm not even too sure how one flips a robot like that by accident or without contacting the original builder.

Gulden, if you didn't contact wakky about these changes, you must rectify them, I'm afraid. Hosts should only ever add smartzones (if necessary), edit smartzone names (again, if necessary) on any given bot. Any other modification of an entrants bot if prohibited. However, considering how the modification may not have particularly affected the bot's performance, if wakky is alright with it, you don't need to amend it.

I am curious as to what compelled you to make this change, tho.

Lets just do Iron Forge, not IRL.
And completely ignore the opinion poll?

And RW is an entertainment show before a competition, just as people are claiming this series is.

There's a fundamental difference or two between Banter Wars and Robot Wars. You're clever enough to figure them out yourself.

Yeah, you wouldn't make a video complaining about banter wars being sh** :)

That would be a pretty stupid move on my part if I were to criticise my own show...

And no, that's not the difference. The main difference is a word that starts with M.
Because no money = not serious

Righto, I think everything that was needed to be said has been said and everything that had needed to be done/acted upon by AHOG has been done. I'll be monitoring this thread closely for any further sights of flame war baiting or anything like that and, hopefully, an incident like this does not occur again.

Some people like to spend there time outside RA2 you know not everyone is going to be a professional at it and tournaments like BW are meant for those kinds of people not tryhard no lifers.

I genuinely cannot believe some of you are trying to argue his way out of such a blatant, tournament-ruining **** up with such awful excuses.

You're right. It is just a game. There are no real stakes, and nobody is entitled to a rematch or re-do. What's done is done.

However, having such awful due diligence and totally screwing over competitors the way you have does reflect badly upon you and your ability to host tournaments, and we are within our rights to call it out, and others are well within their rights to refuse to enter your tournaments in the future if you're going to host them so poorly. I for one was interested in entering this series in the future but this incident, combined with the quite pathetic reaction means I never will, and there are probably many others who, upon seeing this, will have the same reaction. We're within our rights to, at bare minimum, point that out so others don't make the same mistake of joining in the future.

Unless, that is, you're at all willing to take some actual responsibility instead of sh**-talking us in the comments, thinking we won't notice any time soon?

Just because the one in the video "looks bias" to you GTM users doesn't mean it will look unfair in someone elses and the Observabot correcting the mistake in my opinion is being fair to the robot in trouble.
So, that one point when the Observer bot was ramming Badnik's bot across the wall, it was being fair to it as it was in trouble. Righto, gotcha *cough*

Why address us as GTM users and say that other demographics wouldn't find a problem with it? The only reason we care is because we actually know that isn't how Badnik's bot was meant to function. In fact, now thew issue has been brought up, even someone from outside GTM would complain.

Btw, now that I know that AHOG has recorded the whole thing, I'm not asking for the match to be re-done. However, I would like you to not use the fact that you were overwhelmed by the amount of entrants as an excuse for anything. You've admitted that you have tested Badnik's bot against a vast array of bots, yet you didn't notice Badnik's weapon was spinning in the wrong way? To me, you either didn't actually test his bot, you are a moron, or you actually rigged the competition. Missing the fact that his main (and only) weapon spins the wrong way is not a simple oversight, unless you're the builders of Plan X. In fact, someone else must've had to have had their spinners be edited and a battery be removed for it to even happen to Badnik. So, you've even cocked up whoever's entry that was, as well, as you didn't make the edit you deemed necessary for it to compete. I simply ask that you change your tournament hosting practice, from now on, and let the entrants do every single bit of the editing of their bot, even if it is minor. Staying organised is not hard. You didn't receive entries in one massive lump, you had ample time to put entries you received in folders, write down the names of bots and builders that you need to contact, or whatever you needed to do.

thats like me ruining a GTM competition by complaining about every tiny little detail that didn't look correct or was unfair
Thing is in GTM tournaments we don't have unfair stuff like this.
If one of you did a project as big as this one in the future, I'll make sure to harrass you for any mistake you make and try to ruin the whole project. How does that sound?
There's one about to start actually. Please, PLEASE do this.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. You'll find it difficult to nitpick a GTM tournament because we host them right (well, most of us do :P).

drama is so funni xd
Gotta love it ;)

This is by no means that worst mistake either. Spunkly and Rex Tano had their robots swapped and I didn't realise until late on when Rex Tano sent me his intro wondering why his robot was a Pikachu head. Did he complain about rigging? No. He sees the show as what it is: My hobby, which I've decided to put up for people to see.
What? I think accidentally editing Badnik's bot is a bit worse than swapping intros of robots. They didn't say it was 'rigged' because you didn't 'rig' it, it was a simple mistake which anyone could have made. However, deleting a battery and making Badnik's weapon spin downwards, not sure if that's a simple mistake which anyone could have made.

In testing it did extraordinarily well and destroyed most of the competition. Nothing happened that made me suspicious.
>the weapon spin downwards when, in the bot lab, it spins upwards
yep, nothing at all suspicious, I bet

If one of you did a project as big as this one in the future, I'll make sure to harrass you for any mistake you make and try to ruin the whole project. How does that sound?
I challenge you to do that, tbh

but if you look around at other sports, there is always one mistake or one bias ref/judge that screws the potential of someone or a team that could have surely won it!
Give me a good example of when that happened and there wasn't a re-do/public outcry. Also, in this situation, it would be like the ref breaking a competitor's leg. Seems fair to me

Good point. You can add that back to the OP, Wen.

397
The brackets are now up!
Ironforge LW
Stock MW
Retooled HW

Who do you think's gonna take it all, respectively?

398
My robot is called The Migliore? not The Migliore 2
I named it after what you exported it as :P Do you want it changed?

399
Also my clusterbot just has the team name "Shyguys on Stilts", think I did mention that in the PM?
I've updated the splash correcting that and another mistake.

The Stock splash is up. I'll reveal the brackets later today.
