*tips top hat*

Alright, chaps.

Get those teams into me. Please make sure the robots are clearly labelled in a zip folder with the team name as the folder of the zip.

Please also ensure that you tell me if they are AI'ed or not. I will once again remind you that I have never done it before besides one test.

Off-Topic Discussion / Wooden Model Robots

(Didn't know whether to put this into the Robotics board or not.)

A long time ago now, my grand dad made me a small collection of these wooden robots for me to play with because I had gotten bored with the pullback toys and the mini-bots from Robot Wars.

He also made me an big arena to fight them all in. It featured a pit, functioning flipper and walls. Was destroyed when my grand parents moved though so I don't have pictures of it.

(Series 2) - 6 Additional Bots

(Series 1) - The Original 4

is rule of 7 break allowed

I have no idea what that is, so, no. xD

In RA2 you can only attach 7 objects to each other, rule of 7 break is using a free download tool from serge so you can attach more than 7 objects to each other, gives people more freedom.

I knew about Rule of 7, not the tool though. Thanks.

No is the answer.

Wait, this is in 2.1? I'm pretty sure everyone has moved onto 2.2.

Ah. Right. Like I said, didn't know it existed.

Also, will we just be randomly assigned in teams or d we pick our partners?  I feel the answer is obvious, but the OP doesn't really state it.

"you must find a partner to team up and fight alongside."

oh man i love your avatar

but yeah, make it 2.2 and i'll def enter

<3 Gotta' love classic Sips.

Righto.

Be sure to show what robot you're entering with in the OP. How come you are playing in DSL 2.1 and not 2.2? Could you state the eligibility of cheatbot2? I know it doesn't make too much of a difference but please state whether hazards are on or off.

The one thing I forgot to make, good job me. Didn't even know it existed. Done and done.

Indeed, after 7 years, I am bringing it back. Unfortunately, G.K will not be part-hosting it this time as he is dead inactive.

Here is the original sign-up thread, I am sorry in advance: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=3013.0

The way this works is that you must find a partner to team up and fight alongside. Teams must have a name.

Current champions are Team Deadly Accuracy - Ounce and Pwn.

I am AI'ing this time (I am still fairly new to it though so I would recommend you do your own).
Bots need to be received and accepted.
The way you sign up is by having one of the members of the team messaging me with BOTH robots in a zip folder and the team name. Means less sorting my end. Make sure robots are both clearly labelled.
(Old Realistic Rules) Standard DSL 2.2 - All parts must not intersect unless you could feasibly weld them together.
16 Entries - 8 Teams of 2.
Lightweight.
No custom components.
No out-of-game modifications.
In-game modifications are fine as long as they work within the rules.
No cheatbot2.
No clusterbots.
Double elimination.
LuTze Arena Skinned (Never skinned arena before, don't hate please ;-;)
1 Restart per team if Havok.
Hazards on.
3 Minute battles.
Best of 3 battles to win the match.

Deadline: August 20th 2016

Lmao they actually buffed the pyro. Do valve even play their own games?

Pyro does need some buffing, to be honest.

Lot of it's weapons were nerfed throughout the course of the last 1-2 year(s).

So, what's everyone's opinion of the new update?

And what side did you join? Heavy or Pyro?

I play this game a weeee bit too much.  I'm totally up for playing with a few of you guys here!
RedAce  you need to turn off camera shake, I think.

If you get in the discord once in a while, then we'd play xD

Just like to show people some of the advancements we've made in terms of design.

My first robot and KOS' first robot that we made almost 2 years ago. We used motors, wheel tool and thrusters.

Mine and KOS' later bots, E.T.A and Phantasm. Robots at this point were created with motors, wheel tool, hydraulics and thrusters.

Coalition II and Magnus. Two of my current robots. Robots shown here are created with axis, hydraulics and thrusters.

My list of reasons why this game is bad.

I'm going to consistently update this list when I remember more reasons. I'll also add a reason if someone says it to me.

Anybody care to thoroughly explain why they didn't like it? Most comments are just calling it "bad" and "a pain" which don't really give much information as to what the issue is.

I think it is VERY IMPORTANT for us, the Robot Arena community, to give concrete constructive criticisms to the devs rather than dismiss thr game outright. We can help turn the game into what we all hoped for and the devs themselves will benefit from our criticism.

Right. Here:

And that's only the start of the problems.

It's barely functioning in it's current state.

That reminds me, wasn't NerdCubed gonna play this?

He's predictably gonna hate it. Or he'll love it because of the stupid things you can build in it.

He's not going to like it one bit. He's been designing and making games for about a year now. He'll see the flaws and what's wrong.

ITT: Overreacting

Kill, I can't believe you can actually defend this game.

Our reactions are perfectly justified. It is fundamentally broken and will not be fixed.

If the developer even gave an ounce of care then they would have not released the game. Not in this state. It is almost unplayable.
