Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas
« on: October 01, 2013, 11:06:09 AM »
Resetti doesn't put his bots up for download a lot due to the awkward component usage, as he has mentioned previously many times in this thread.

Pretty much all you can work with is what people publicly release - Resetti has been asked many times by people to release his bots but the task would be more than time-consuming. I can't actually see or remember any other packs around at the moment - apologies.

Also, if you have any further queries it'd be awesome if you made another thread instead of using this one for a slightly off-topic use (and please don't double-post, we have an edit button for a reason ;) )

(Image removed from quote.)Signups close October 17, 20131. You must follow the events rules if you plan on entering it.2. You can enter into all of the events.3. I will randomize the entries and make the brackets with challonge.com4. Each battle is 1 vs 1, best of 3 fights.5. Game type is DSL 2.1 for each event.6. No multibots.7. A bot can be updated until the splash is posted.8. Each bot must show controlled movement.9. Each bot gets one havok (eliminates a bot because of it) restart. After that, the bot is disqualified.10. I can AI and make splashes but you can help with the splashes (and AI) you want to.11. There will be unlimited entries in each event,12. The bot may represent ANY COUNTRY YOU WANT in the form of a skin. You can check out my flag pack in the mods section if you can't skin well.13. There can only be 2 representatives from one country in each event. For example, you can't enter a bot based on the U.S. in an event if there are already 2 bots based on the U.S. in that event.14. The BW's and LW's may utilize the following cheatbot2 components:
The events are going to be 2 IRL, 2 standard for some variety.
My entries:
So tell me what you think, throw me some feedback boys.

Signups are open, and these rules now cannot change. Enjoy!

Stinger could do with a higher dp on the tail, I had difficulty causing damage.

Can someone sort out the AI on this pack? It's still a bit glitchy...

It was just a beta version that was released? It's still being as you politely put it 'sorted out'.

I am starting to think the FR/RR stuff is a little bit much, not a lot of people check it anyway - respect and fear can be conveyed through the text/stance/rank on the page.

So, in theory, we could introduce a rule that means all discussion topics must have a poll showing more than enough people are willing to enter?

Could get a little complicated for multiple-bracket tournaments such as Battlebots where people can enter several times, but if we keep the current limitations on size for minor hosts, the only big multiple-bracket tournaments will be run by major hosts, which should have enough interest to fill them without issues in any case.

Either that or for those tournaments the poll must have multiple choices, eg
Which do you plan to enter?
-LW
-MW
-HW
-None

I do agree that the current system is restricting the flow at this time, it's just working out a system that ensures the tournament will run smoothly.

The thing I find useful about the vote is it gauges interest in the tournament - if any tournament goes through to signups and then isn't supported by the community, it'll end up lapsing and a possibly unnecessary black mark is left on their name.

Tournament Archives / IMPORTANT CHANGES: Tournament Rule Change Discussion
« on: September 12, 2013, 03:07:36 AM »

Rule Changes to Entry Level Tournaments and Display Tournaments have now been made, but may change at any time. I will also be asking hosts for feedback on the new process as it comes into use.
Please visit the Tournament Management thread and/or Display Tournament Rule thread to view these changes.

Looks interesting, may work on an entry..

Hopefully we'll be able to put a poll up in the next week or so, just waiting for a reply from G.K. on some stuff.

So the dreaded GTM Computer curse has hit and my laptop is down for the time being, which is a shame as this is the week I was planning to really kick this off. I'm currently having to back all my old stuff up and restore my laptop, hoping that'll fix it - if not, who knows what'll happen..

Helloface, please, if you're going to go off-topic and try to be funny, please actually be funny...
In fact just don't go off-topic please.
I may whip something together for this but nothing definite yet, might rework the Crasp Evo Jr I showcased the other day :)

Okay, I'll be locking this topic for now as Rob has submitted another discussion topic. This way, the full extent of this tournament can take place after Rob has completed the other tournament, which adheres to the Entry Level rules.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but as you've only run 2 tournaments you still come under the Entry Level tournament rules:

Entry Level Tournament Rules

Upon successful completion of your first tournament you are permitted 32 entrants (including Wildcard)

Whether this is still well enforced is unknown to me, but yeah, as far as I can tell this is what you should really be sticking to.

Discussion / Re: Merging AI packs
« on: September 05, 2013, 06:11:35 PM »
Yes. You can merge them (Correct me if I'm wrong everyone else, on whatever I say).
You can do what you said, however you will also need to make sure you have the teams logo pictures in the file and edit teams.txt accordingly. Look at how it's laid out, and you'll need to add all the added teams data onto it. Poke around in the files and you should understand, it's not the most complicated of files. The chart I use to help/learn AI which I'm attaching below, made by Philetbabe, gives some great info on the teams.txt and AI stuff in general.
