I've decided to w/ just over 2 weeks left until signups close, make some changes to the rules:
- wheel motors are no longer allowed - Diablo motors are no longer allowed - harry pottre motour is no longer allowed - fixed a mistake where perm 40 wasn't listed in allowed cb2 components Changes I'm considering for future series if I continue past this one: - restricting flatmotors to drums and overhead saw blades/hammer saws - putting the legality of MOE motors and perm 40s up to a community vote - restricting spike strip wedges to when they're part of a flipper 369

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Team Koi: DSL edition (team name STC)« on: March 27, 2020, 10:26:17 AM »
Heatwave has been upgraded yet again, this time the wheels have been moved to inside the chassis and the internals reworked to save weight. I've put the weight saved on less internal extenderwork and no external wheelguards into making the bot more durable as a whole.
I've also built some more new bots. LED Sandwich is a bot that might only exist just to be an AW. Might require some upgrading if I decide to enter it into tournaments. The first bot I built in DSL was Outrage, now I've built an IRL version, outrage_irl. This pic isn't fully up to date, as the saw blades are now the other side of the wheels and the weapon supports have been fixed. I've had this joke bot as an idea for some time, but I finally built it: Zoomstone. I also did a mini-tournament to showcase my HWs that I've AId fighting and get a feel of what hosting is like ahead of extreme build rules. https://vlare.tv/v/Tyd7A6rh 372

I've seen some stuff on discord about OW5 being invite only for the main competition and then side events being open for everyone. Will a new blood be one of those side events? If so, that's one I'd rly love to have a go at entering, since I failed to get a bot completed in time for fresh metal.

Site News and Feedback / Profile youtube links« on: March 21, 2020, 11:15:15 AM »
Currently, the youtube link feature on profiles only works if your channel has a legacy username URL, as the link will always be youtube.com/user/*whatever's entered in the box*. This makes it outdated, as only channels created before a certain point in time, I think that point in time is when google+ was integrated into the comments section in november 2013, as the channel I had before then had a legacy URL, but when I linked my account to google+ to keep the ability to post comments, I had a new channel created under my email display name, and that one didn't have a legacy URL automatically, so I had to make it as a custom one. Sometime since then, legacy URLs have been made completely inaccessible to channels that didn't already have one it seems.
More info about channel URLs: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6180214?hl=en-GB The channel I currently use was created in 2015, by then 500 subs was a requirement for getting a custom URL, which has since been lowered to 100 w/ other requirements. If you get a custom URL, you will have two URLs or your channel, assuming you created it too late to get a legacy user URL: ID-based URL (youtube.com/channel/*user ID*) and customised URL (youtube.com/c/*channel name + anything else you want to add). It would be nice to have this updated, so those whose channels do not have a legacy URL can have their channels linked on their profiles w/o having to use their sig. 378

Due to lack of entries, I have dropped signups for the side events and decided to enter the main competition myself. Exhibitions will still take place, using bots from the main competition, and will be decided in a similar manner to in OW4.
