I thought that was an interesting twist, especially when you think the final will be fought with a team that's literally not any of your own bots (unless you can choose to swap the last losing bot for the next losing bot, keeping 2 of your own all the way)

Just cleaned this thread up after problems were resolved. The entry level rules have now been clarified, and a part added where if all entrants are in 1 team-based bracket, each entrant may enter 3 robots - making this interesting idea fully legal by the ruleset. As previously stated somewhere else, current rules are in flux anyway so it's good to have something come up that raises questions. Good luck TRiaS.

This topic has at least half the entry size in yes votes and has been submitted to me, so... This is now a signups topic! The following rules cannot change. I finally decided to try and do a tournament of my own.

RULES Game - DSL 2.1 Weight - Middleweight Realistic Rule - IRL Realistic 15 entrants. (See battle rules.) One entry robot per person. Only in game glitches are allowed - eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading. If you can't AI I will try me best to AI for you, just don't get whingey if your robot doesn't win. You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.
BUILDING RULES Middleweight class robots only. 249.0kg - 399.0kg Only in game glitches are allowed - eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading. No external editing at all - BFE, AAM and so on. Must have at least 2 wheels for controlled movement. Robots with tracks get no weight cushion. No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers. Multibots are banned. No unrealistic weapon sizes and quantities. You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end. Judge Bursts and MOE motors are allowed. One Judge Burst per bot.
BATTLE RULES 3 minute fights. Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament arena, I might reskin it. Hazards on. If a robot havoks then I will restart the match. I will keep restarting until there is a havok-free match. Fights with havoks will not be shown.
Round 1 - 5 battles with 3 competitors in each. 1 winner from each and 1 voted wildcard advance. Round 2 - 2 battles with 3 competitors in each. 1 winner from each advances to the final. 2nd in each goes into the playoff. Round 3b - 1 battle with 2 competitors. Winner is declared 3rd place runner-up. Round 3a - 1 battle with 2 competitors. Winner is declared tournament champion.
Judging will be done by me and 2 other members, tell me if you want to be a judge. Each robot will be given a mark out of 5 for Style, Control, Damage and aggression, so a maximum of 60 points in total for each robot.

Would A IRL Bot be accepted? It has literally no chance of winning but thats my style. Suck at RA2.
Why don't you just try and make a standard bot? We never get standard tournaments these days. Also you're more likely to do well and you won't be taking the easy way out. You'd be entering an IRL bot just so you have an excuse to say 'oh well I knew I'd lose'. Why not actually try?

Considering getting Long Live the Queenif it wins the community choice(which it probably won't.)
As much as I want that to win, it will probably be Super Hexagon, it is invariably the cheapest game, or the game with the highest percent taken of its price that wins. And since Super Hexagon has both, and as such is only 20p, it is almost sure to win.
There is also the fact that Super Hexagon is an excellent game in it's simplicity :3

And with that, signups are open. The rules as following now cannot change. Hey guys, seeming as I've finally got some free time to come back onto the forums and stuff, just thought of an interesting idea for a tournament, and I hope that you will find it interesting too. - This tournament will be called "Blades of Glory" and unsurprisingly; will be held in the DSL Blade Arena with hazards on. I have reskinned this to add a bit of pinache.
- 3 minute time limit
- It will be DSL 2.1 STANDARD REALISTIC (and only components from dsl 2.1 are allowed, not other component packs or AI parts)
-Weightclass MW
-Can be any type of weapon (As long as it doesn't break standard realistic rules) -No Clusterbots allowed (Sorry! Just can't have clusters in 4 way melees XD)
- No Cheatbot2, AI parts, Narmour, BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification are allowed, but if you want a specific line of code in the bindings, as long as it isn't ridiculous, I will allow it. NO GLITCHED PARTS ALLOWED.
-16 entrants and no wildcard
-If your bot havoks, there will be a restart. (unless the havok is minor and doesn't really affect the battle too much) If your bot havoks 2 times during the tournament, however, it will be disqualified, and randomly replaced (if necessary) with another bot, or the other competitor (if in single deathmatch at the time) will automatically qualify. If this does happen to your bots, I am more than happy to post video evidence of the havoking, if you want me to. If I do have to pick a random robot, I will use a program called "Name Generator" online to determine the robot. (I will also include videos of this result if this happens.)
-Once your bot is sent, you will not be allowed to modify it in any way, so be sure to be completely finished before sending them. Also note that your bot cannot be entered until I have received and accepted it. I will signify if there is a problem with your bot and will give you the chance to try and edit the bot as long as I receive it fairly quickly. I will be accepting sign-ups for about 3 weeks minimum after this thread goes into sign-ups, if not all entries are filled by then, I will extend it by another two weeks and start to allow multi-entries.
-I WILL be competing, though I probably don't stand a chance, with "The Iceman"
-There probably will not be a big prize, unfortunately, but the winner of this will be eligible for two entries into my next tournament (so they have a better chance of winning it). As I won't allow multi-entries from anyone in my next one except the winner of this here tournament.
-I will be recording battles using camstudio (or simular programs dependant on if Camstudio wants to work with me or not :D)
-My AIing is limited, so I would prefer that you AI your bots yourself, but if you REALLY cannot AI then I can for you.
-Here's the interesting part:
-Wins and losses are scored with points. these points are determined by the way a bot wins:
-Loss: 1 point
-Draw (which I don't expect happening): 2 points
-Win by Judges: 3 points - (I will be Judging Based on Style, Control, Damage, Aggression (Cliché) and use of the blade) *NOTE - My buddy senstro has volunteered to judge as well, so that it is fair.
-Win by immobilisation: 4 points
-Win by OOTA: 4 points
-Win by destroying of control board: 5 points
-Wins involving the blade in the center adds 2 points to your win score. For example, if a bot pushes another into the blade and destroys it, it will be awarded 7 points (5 for destruction + 2 for blades = 7)
-There will be 4 groups of 4 (each robot shall face one another in a group), and the two highest scoring bots from each will progress. (In the event of a tie there will be a playoff) The lowest scoring bots (and third highest) are eliminated. The 8 winners (from the group stages) will compete in two 4 way melees, the top two of both go through. Those 4 shall compete in a 4 way melee, the two losers compete against each other in a 2 way melee, (likewise the winners). The loser of the loser's melee is placed 4th. The winner of the losers' melee goes through to face the loser of the winners' melee. Whoever wins is placed 2nd, whoever loses is 3rd. The winner of the winner's melee is placed 1st and is the champion.
I know it sounds complicated, but to help you grasp the concept, it is similar to Alphasims "All or nothing bot wars", but with group and knockout, rather than just knockout. I think it will be quite unpredictable with the scoring system, and I just wanted to know if anyone thought this is a good idea and may want to sign up if it gets to that stage. Any feedback and questions are welcome and encouraged.
