DSL TC Showcases / Re: Nate Tech's DSL bots

Oh wait, yes you did changed it. I just didn't see your third, cause my internet is kinda slow and didn't downloaded it when I posted that. And yeah, that's an excuse I did not pull out of my ass.

The third one is better, but your armor setup is a bit messy.

IRL realism is just that, and is for lame-os like FOPTOPZEEOPX who can't build good bots. :P

Also why haven't I QFT'ed that ?

You know how sometimes when people are near really loud things they don't hear them? (i.e. Mount Saint Helens)
Well, it's like that. But instead of sound it's just my awesomeness.

And Saturn's looking better than the first two.

Oh oops I goofed. The weapon motors on your FS are drive, and those are inferior to weapon motors on this, so I'd change them. Drives just don't have enough speed for weapons generally.

About the armor, just mess around with a different setup, but keep in mind Hammers > FS usually in a fight so I can't guarantee it'd do much.

By the way- the GTM definition of DSL realism means bars and weapons and stuff can pass through anything that could have a slot cut in it IRL (such as snowplows and the chassis, etc.) but not things like batteries and wheels.
IRL realism is just that, and is for lame-os like FOPTOPZEEOPX who can't build good bots. :P

And good job on installing DSL by yourself, you would not believe how many newbs can't figure it out. Just don't use any cheat parts (parts that didn't come with DSL and/or cheatbot2 parts)

As for the bots,

Techno FS:

I can't see what drive you used, but on a FS NPCs are usually best from my experience.

Weapon basic premise is good, I see you've been lurking. The motors you used are fine for a MW FS, but the weapons you chose are a little on the weak side. For instance, I give at least 10 kg a spike on a MW FS (again, can vary a lot). A good setup is a beater bar with a light DS tooth on the tip of it. Oh, and I'd personally mount the discs directly on the motor.

Nice catch using multi extenders instead of baseplate anchors to mount things on the chassis (common newb mistake). On thing you probably don't want to do though is mount them outside the chassis, as they have pathetic HP (things mounted directly on the chassis have infinite HP).

The armor is a good idea. However, it's not the best setup, and halfplates really aren't a good armor choice (unless they're directly mounted on the bottom of the chassis of course). Also the shark tooth on the hex plate isn't doing anything as-is. Good armors include those shell plates (you can spam them like crazy and it's awesome), plows (expecially the 35 kg one, it has crazy high HP), or just the lighter extender sheets.

The wheels aren't bad but there are some better ones, such as hypnos or vlads.

I never got batteries really but I hear like 1 ant a spin motor is best or something for minimum, but don't overdo it.

Saturn:

Yeah, that's where tite sheets are supposed to go!

Circle chassiseseses aren't a good idea. Saying this from experience.

Good job using the mega-beefy motor on that thing, but in all honesty you're gonna die because the weapon is a little on the weak side. See, right now the only weapons doing damage are the end hammers (not the best weapon in themselves) and the inner ones aren't doing anything. If you put like a flat shell plate on the end of the bar and put hammers on that, it'd be better. Just an example.

Plows are generally a good idea, but the back one isn't really doing anything. I'd beef up the sides if I were you. Also, you can mount a plow with just one ME instead of two :D

Overtaker

Never use piglets for drive. :P Seriously, they're only good for small weapon motors. They have high RPM but the torque of roadkill.

Hope this helped. Some of the best DSL builders include 123STW, Naryar, and Pwnator, so listen to em.

15. Champions Online
I only had F2P, but it is a fun game with a great character creator. Only problem (apart from premium) is it gets pretty repetitive after a while.

14. Trackmania (United Forever)
Very good racing game, and you can get it for cheap if you buy it on amazon or something. The track creator is great and it has good graphics for 2006.

13. Garry's Mod
You know what it is.

12. Minecraft
You know what this is too.

11. EVE Online
At first glance this game looks like a big snooze, and I'm sure it is for some people. But I love this game. Okay, I only had the two week trial, but I still got a pretty good feel for the game. The only real problem is it takes forever to play it, and you can lose pretty much everything you've made in the game to some random pirate. But still, good game.

10. Sonic CD
Nostalgia-fest.

9. Combat flight simulator ('98)/Warbirds III
I went through a major airplane fad (still like em) when I was a little kid and these games were a dream some true. I got CFS a few years before WB3 so I played that a lot more, but WB3 is better. You get to play as pretty much any of a bazillion WWII planes, and they're pretty realistic. WB3 even had tanks and stuff too.

8. Civilization (3, PTW, 4, 5)
I play them on and off, they're good strategy games. I rarely have enough patience to finish a full game though.

7. SSB (M/B)
You know this too.

6. F-Zero GX
Got this very recently compared to the others, but it deserves a spot on this list. This game is one of the best racers ever IMO. Very underrated.

5. Lego Stunt Rally
Hands down the most played game I've done. I got this in first grade for $7 and I played it for two years straight. It's a racer, really not too great but it's got a track editor and I loved it and still do. If this game was about nostalgia it'd be number two (right behind the #1 on this list).

4. RA2
Hey I can't come up with anything anymore, but I still like it. Whenever random people play games on the PC with me in my house I always waste them on RA2. >:D

3. Rollercoaster Tycoon (1, 3)
I played RCT1 forever when I was in 3rd grade or so. I didn't really get the finaces or anything but I had fun. :P RCT3 is OK.

2. Lego Racers 2
YEAAAAAAAH I still love this game and STILL PLAY IT
Arctic & Dino Island FTW

1. POD (AKA Planet of Death)
My overall favorite game ever through the ages. I went through a POD drought when I couldn't install it on modern PCs but recently I found some dude with a great tutorial and I got it working on my XP!
It's a racer, and really good. It's not too fast, but the graphic style is awesome (really good for '97) and the cars are sweeeeet. Also nostalgia. If you can find this thing on amazon or something or if you already have it, look up "Holger's Pod Info" and "POD Phreak" and you can get it running in a snap, with every car and track as a bonus! Cheers.

Hiya fellas

I took THIS

And made it THIS

From the Nitrome game Dirk Valentine. Which is pretty fun actually.
But of course you already knew that, since I posted it. But it is now colored, which you must have noticed too. Unless you're blind, where then you wouldn't know. But if you were blind, you wouldn't know that you didn't know, since you have to see this to know and blah blah blah I'll shut up now
