Tournament Archives / Re: Extreme Build Rules - SIGNUPS CLOSED
« on: April 21, 2020, 07:37:32 AM »
The splashes are taking so long to do bc of bots w/ long load times that I'll prolly set a limit on load times next time.

EDIT: **** that being the reason if such a rule happens, it just turns out some bots take much longer to load when importing than when opening in the botlab.

Signups have closed.  Thx to everyone who has entered, I will test any bots that were sent before midnight last night but have not yet tested then give info on a tournament format (I may open up a few extra spaces if the number of accepted entries doesn't fit into said format).

I'm also looking at rule changes for a potential sequel to this tournament, which I'm open to discuss:
- 2020 ruleset w/ a small number of changes that might be of use for crushers, multibots, rammers etc.
- two entries max per person, seeds will not count towards these two entries for their builder
- both unseeded entries for each person must be different weapon types, one can be the same weapon type as a seeded bot by the same builder

Wait, what motors do overhead saws use if they're not allowed flats?

Deadline day for signups is today.  Signups close at midnight tonight (UK time)

Are the tooth and beater limits the same as the 2020 ruleset?

I've decided to w/ just over 2 weeks left until signups close, make some changes to the rules:
- wheel motors are no longer allowed
- Diablo motors are no longer allowed
- harry pottre motour is no longer allowed
- fixed a mistake where perm 40 wasn't listed in allowed cb2 components

Changes I'm considering for future series if I continue past this one:
- restricting flatmotors to drums and overhead saw blades/hammer saws
- putting the legality of MOE motors and perm 40s up to a community vote
- restricting spike strip wedges to when they're part of a flipper

You can wait till the series is over. Also, as a warning/callout: don't start begging me to play with you or showcase your robots. I've seen you hassling others on multiple videos/websites and I won't tolerate you doing it to me. Have some respect/manners.

In other news: 3pm BST (British Summer Time) TOMORROW (Monday the 30th of March) I will make a post here that side events are open as well as details about them.

Hope you look forward to the post-series!

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Team Koi: DSL edition (team name STC)

Heatwave has been upgraded yet again, this time the wheels have been moved to inside the chassis and the internals reworked to save weight.  I've put the weight saved on less internal extenderwork and no external wheelguards into making the bot more durable as a whole.

I've also built some more new bots.  LED Sandwich is a bot that might only exist just to be an AW.  Might require some upgrading if I decide to enter it into tournaments.

The first bot I built in DSL was Outrage, now I've built an IRL version, outrage_irl.  This pic isn't fully up to date, as the saw blades are now the other side of the wheels and the weapon supports have been fixed.

I've had this joke bot as an idea for some time, but I finally built it: Zoomstone.

I also did a mini-tournament to showcase my HWs that I've AId fighting and get a feel of what hosting is like ahead of extreme build rules.

I've seen some stuff on discord about OW5 being invite only for the main competition and then side events being open for everyone.  Will a new blood be one of those side events?  If so, that's one I'd rly love to have a go at entering, since I failed to get a bot completed in time for fresh metal.
