Real Robotics Discussion / Re: Least favorite robot!
« on: November 14, 2010, 02:42:04 AM »
I'll name them off and try to give a legit reason:
Razer: The only thing I liked about them was it's design. Sleek, elegant very nice. What I didn't like was that there creators were d*cks and were sore losers.
Tornado: Cheaters by using the APD.

you failed at doing so :P

1) "creators are dicks" this is least favorite robot thread for a start.. second... do you actually know any of them ? RW was an entertainment TV show.. the stuff about Pussycat was blown stupidly out of proportion as was other grudge matches Robot Wars made.. all for the sake of entertainment. The other time that was noted of Ian's temper at a loss was against Tornado's APD.. which makes no sense to call him a sore looser if you call it cheating yourself ?

2) it wasnt cheating.. I wont deny it kinda raped the spirit of Robot Wars but it was legal. I still raise my eyebrows over why it was legal... but bottom line is, it was..

you know there is a stupidly easy solution to VS tipping at the start of matches (something I wish I knew in CC2 for obvious reasons)

its called the 'range' value :D

if a VS starts driving forward before spinning the weapon rather then spinning the weapon when being dropped into the arena it fairs so much better...

this is what I did with the VS robots in CC3 (anyone notice no starting tumbles ?)

yeah I know first hand how messy it is.. the arena itself is a work of art but its heck to navigate in notepad

it doesn't help that 50% of people wanting to start arena modding want to do it in the RW arena (including me :P)

Madiaba advised me against it and began teaching me more simplistic arenas first..

truth is sometimes you can do more with a simple arena then a complex one as far as making it different...

General Support / Re: How do I make a new arena

Oh boy...

I will quote that for truth :P

Arena's are really the end phase of Modding... well "new" ones are..

-- 1 ----------------

Start messing about with component GMF's first like Click said...

Ram-plates, Super-volts or other rectangle prism components are the best place to start as they are very easy to understand...

-- 2 ----------------

Mess about with more advanced or multi object components

-- 3 ----------------

Learn Python coding (probably AI one first as they can be easier to understand in some parts)

-- 4 ----------------

Learn to use the Arena pythons and how they work

-- 5 ----------------

Learn mass object GMF's such as arena GMF's

« on: November 14, 2010, 01:54:01 AM »
you kinda need to give a heck of a lot more info then what your doing to except anyone to help you

also its an open requests section...you can ask but not expect your requests to be for-filled,

How far did you end up getting?

I made the big pieces of the ship and Sage sent me hex codes to make a shiny silver metal looking color..

thats about it... :P

we might band back together one of these days and finish what we started..

:O Team Leader

Happy with all Teams TBH, they seem really quite balanced as far as experience goes.. and my bot type given (lolz no restrictions)

Pwnator getting no restrictions except weight is always a worry though D:

NO D:

Why must Joes rules always ruin my chances in CC!?

The arena is a low walled arena anyway so they would kill themselves somewhat fast..

to find it you must follow a series of clues, each more difficult to solve then the last... ah screw it

its in the Modifications and Designs section with the title RPM monitoring AI.

wont look as cool but yeah... play with the angles like I said..

just decreasing the size of the angle small amounts at a time to find an angle you can get away with..

yeah... you can sometimes be lucky on the angle

basically its the piece of code that reverses movement when upside down (since the wheels dont actually push the robot across the ground)

it essentially gets a tad confused on angles and drive motors and does all kinds of different things (doesnt turn, slowly, reverse, etc)

why drag yourself down to his level?

do you ever react to what they say?

if you completely ignore everything that is said 100% and continue down the more mature path they will get bored of it and move along.

people only tease or bully for the sake of a reaction.. dont give them one.  ;)

use my THz.py otherwise.. well see my match in IRL.

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/5054THZ.rar

Just controls

Forward, LeftRight, Hammer (on analog) and a Smartzone called Whipzone

nothing fancy required for the bindings..

it is always possible to set things right with anyone.. I know first hand  ;)

I made a python that will allow it to swing the hammer back an forth with a smartzone

also a SnSCrawler.py that helps them get to spin up speed easier with the lack of traction..
