Thinking about implementing a minimum weapon motor so as to restrict back jugglers and wall-of-weapon FS, I imagine the minimum will be a Perm 45, so I'd be allowing only perms, dual perms, eteks and 2/4/6 mags as weapon motors. Geared Betas are of course allowed on hammers.

Top post updated with pretty full set of rules. Anything I should add? Any questions?

The only flaw with this is people would have to remember when things were posted etc... it'd place too much on the voter, and I don't mean to sound awful, but people won't vote if there's effort involved :P

Playzooki, if you don't like it, why enter? Just asking out of curiosity.

Consider yourself fairly lucky, there was a time when most tournaments imposed minimum standards. Think of it as encouragement to improve :)

while its true that a hate craaig im not disagreeing because i hate craaig

Dude, please, I don't mind if you dislike me, everyone's entitled to their opinions (although I don't know your reasons) but if you can keep personal stuff like this out of main forum that'd be cool.

Pyrexia? o:

Naturally my first thought :P
Looks cool though, although the blue plows look out of place (but useful). You could maybe upgrade them if you downgraded the bar to a 20 wide, and another 6 kg could be saved if you chassis mount the NPCs (they might already be but they look like they're on multi's to me).
Also I am dubious of how useful the sheet is mounted that way, I would've thought it'd be better along the chassis.

Yeah, I noticed that stuff about Tapatalk when I looked into it some time ago.
I'm not bothered if nothing changes, but I moved Blood Brothers to signups and edited the relevant posts in Management on my mobile earlier which took a hugely long time really, just thought I'd mention it to see what people think.
Also, I had no idea you were an app dev, that's pretty cool.

Hmm. There aren't any sign-up threads. Better fix this.

Despite knowing nothing about DSL-S, I'm going to host a DSL-S tournament.

Kind of like Two To Tango, I guess, only you make both robots yourself.

General Info

- DSL 2.1
- LW (2 x robots)
- Standard DSL building rules. Realistic rule applies.
- 16 entries.
- You must enter two lightweight robots as a tag team, under a team name. Bonus points if they're thematically linked.

Cool, this thread is now a signups topic.
You have 3 months, enjoy :)

Site News and Feedback / GTM Mobile?

This thought has been playing on my mind for some time. The current mobile site is pretty bad in my opinion and browsing on a mobile is sometimes quote tricky, although this may just be me.
Is there any way we could make the site friendlier to mobile? I know a lot of forums use that Tapatalk thing  but I don't know much about it.

Yeah, I think we'd go for the 75% weapon weight on the spinning weapon rule.
Also, Mystic, yes - I pretty much copied it because it never got finished and it seemed like fun.
Natster - try. You've done a lot of IRL builds where people can't give you a lot of advice to improve. You actually have to work a little to get something good in standard, so just try something and showcase it then people can help you improve it :)
Also, ty, yes. It is. :3

Personally, I'd go for something completely over-the-top. It's all about mayhem so let's cause some. I'm thinking of entering my dual perm dual VS, for complete insanity.

Me too. Thing is I actually kinda enjoyed filming the last few fights of RW2005 - the fact is, that tournament wasn't really what I wanted to run, it was an experiment into if I could get people to build 'more' IRL, with the vote.
Besides, I figured I should make up for how long that one took by running something right. What better way to make me run it right than to make it something I personally want to see?
This may well be the last one. It might not. No promises anymore.

Tournament Archives / Centripetal Force - SIGNUPS CLOSED
« on: April 13, 2014, 07:12:00 AM »
SIGNUPS CLOSE 1st MAY!

This tournament is all about the destruction - as much as possible, please!
To ensure this, there are bot type restrictions.

Rules
-The bot must be a DSL 2.1 Heavyweight built under the 'Standard' ruleset. Minimum weight is 700kg.
-Please do not enter an IRL bot, I will decline it. Also, if the bot you enter is obviously lower than your creative/technical ability, I may decline it.
-The bot must have at least 75% of it's weapon weight in one of the permitted bot types. If you wish, the rest may be used in a rammer/wedged rammer rack.
-The permitted bot types are as follows
-For weapon motors, you may freely use all types of Perm including Dual, the E-tek, the 2/4/6Mag gearboxes and the Geared Beta (for hammers only). Anything below the Perm 80 in power (Piglets, Mags etc) can be used at a limit of 2 for a specific bot type - for example, you can only have 2 Face Spinning weapons using any motor below a Perm 80. This means you can use more than 2 of these motors provided the bot is a hybrid, and only has a maximum of 2 on each weapon system.
-No flailing weapons
-No BFE for an unrealistic cause, no Custom Components, no AAM/Cheatbot2/ZeroG etc. Trov Glitch is allowed.
-No Clusterbots
-19 entrants (the last 4 accepted entries will be in a Wildcard match)
-Fights will be conducted in the Combat Arena with hazards off for 3 minutes.
-There will be a Loser's Bracket
-All fights aside from the Grand Final (between Winner's Bracket winner and Loser's Bracket winner) will be 4-way.
-1 Havok restart, then your bot will be removed from the battle.
-No upgrades when you send your bot, apart from AI lines.
-I can AI but PLEASE try, it saves so much time.
-If you enter a bot that breaks the rules, you will be notified. Your spot can be taken by someone else if you are holding a spot with an illegal bot and the entry list is full.
-Entries received before signups open will need to be resubmitted after signups open to be valid.
-I will be entering with Pyrexia 2.0
-Any empty spaces in the entry list after 1st May will provide 'bye' spots, first filling the Wildcard, and then if the Wildcard is empty too, they will be shuffled into the first round via randomizer.

ENTRIES
1. Craaig
2. S.H.I.E.L.D
3. Madman3
4. Playzooki

Could we not, in theory, just start BOTM again but make every month a whatever-goes? So basically everybody votes on their favourite build that was submitted - I'm pretty sure a lot of builders would enter if there's less pressure.

Just to let you know you have around 12 days before the deadline for tournament completion :)

Tournament Archives / Re: Minor Inconveniences - Signups
« on: April 13, 2014, 06:36:57 AM »
Okay. It's simple. I'm done with Blades Of Glory. I'm assuming by the lack of interest in the Awards thread that no-one actually wants to bother with grudge matches etc, and the deadline has arrived.

But, I digress.

So here is my next tourney Idea:

(Image removed from quote.)

The Rules are as follows:

-DSL 2.1
-LW Competition
-IRL building rules. (Any Standard bots will be declined.) - Obviously this means that upgrades to your bots are allowed as long as I get them by the deadline. (Deadline will be three weeks after sign-ups launch, and may have an extension depending on the interest level.)
-16 Entrants (With Two bots Per Entrant, More info Later)
-I shall be entering with Mercury and Plutone:

-3 minute matches, draws will be decided by Judges - (General RW criteria) *Note: Any volunteers to help are welcome.
-No Clusterbots
-No Walkers/Shufflers/Any-other-non-wheel-system-that-some-of-you-guys-can-devise

So the General idea is that you enter two bots as a team, both which will fight individually and once I have posted the bracket, You have to PM me which bot you want to go first, dependent on the team you are drawn against. So technically, you have to use one bot at a time, but in your second bout you don't get the choice, the other bot will fight. (Then then choosing process will continue.) This will occur on a normal deathmatch-style bracket, until there is only one winner. As I am entering myself, I shall randomly generate my bots instead of choosing so I don't get an unfair advantage - not that I really truly want to win my own tournament anyway but hey, I'm competing for the fun. It's sounds weird at first but I think this could be interesting and could come down to a good choice by a competitor. (Obviously you could try to pick a bot that the opponent wouldn't be expecting so you get an advantage or something like that)

I'm thinking that at the end in the final the last two teams should just have a brawl, 2 Vs 2, and no time limit.

Arena:

-DSL Tournament Arena (Reskinned)

Components:

-No AI parts
-No Custom parts
-Only specific cheatbot2 parts are allowed:

- 1 Judge burst
- Matilda teeth
- Buster Wheel
- Ronin Wheel
- Yellow Buzzard Wheel
- Growler Wheel
- Slap Happy Wheel
- M.O.E. Wheel

Illegals:

- No M.O.E Motors
- None of Bob's extras
- No Judge's gavel, Beta's battery and hammer, or Vertigo's motor.
- Tit sheets are allowed, as long as they aren't attached to the baseplate.
- No Beta armour

Other Stuff:

-I can AI your bots if you don't know how to, (Although I do recommend learning how) and will be accepting custom bindings as long as they aren't OP. (Ridiculous speed etc.)
-Nobody can be entered until their bots are received and accepted.
-No BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification. (This doesn't include skinning)
-No in-game glitches, such as Stacking, eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading, Snapper Loading etc.
-No Hax Mode.
-If one of your bots havoks, they will be a restart, but two in a row will result in Disqualification of your bots and automatic victory for the other team.

I think that's all. So what do you guys think? Have any questions/queries/suggestions? Tell me below.

This thread is now a signups topic, the rules above may not change.
You have 3 months, good luck :)
