I don't know, are they? I used a small perm.

so i build something for craaig's tournament, while drunk

Piglets are against the rules.

This bot makes me re-think that rule. It's pretty cool. Maybe Piglets can be allowed for hybrids of 2 spinner types?

Joining the 'Building-For-BB9' club

Due to the hammer being on a spin motor, if the hammer goes further than it should (like, all the way around) it will cut through the skirt hinges, but this is unavoidable... is it still IRL?

That stuff is covered in Philetbabe's really useful AI guide, which may not cover some of the new stuff, but all the basic stuff you'd need for most bots.

Nice first bots, the first one in particular looks pretty cool. I'll quickly point out some of the things you may wish to think about
- Angle extenders, as seen on your flipper, are very very weak, maybe consider using Flipper Makers instead?
- Your flippers cut straight through the ramplate on the first one, this would be considered a violation of both DSL Standard and IRL rulesets.
- Similarly, on the second one, your hammers cut through the wheels.
- Lastly, on the second one again, you don't need that much power. In DSL 2.1, every spin motor only needs 1 ant (burst motors still need to be fully powered, so the flipper's all good) so you could get away with having 3 ants in it, but it's safer to have 4. This would free up some weight to do some other stuff! :D

Just to explain, in DSL2.1, the motor power consumption is strange in a way that means ALL spin motors ONLY need around 1 ant to power for all 3 minutes - putting an extra one in is good practice just in case. This is not the case for burst motors which need to be fully powered, but yes, your LW could get away with 3 ants, and you can always save another kg by using the larger blue control board rather than the small green one :)

Absolutely not, I'm pretty sure the majority of us here use Chrome.

Not even nearly enough weaponry. Use 1 perm and a disc rather than a drum would be my advice. Also, the NPCs will attach directly to chassis but still mainly be outside, try it to save some weight.

Would people rather the bracket be 16 with a loser's bracket or 32 with no loser's bracket?
Thinking of expanding to 32, but still using 4 way melee's, so the first round would be qualifiers and the top 2 in each battle go through to the main 16-spot tournament

Much to your dismay...
(Image removed from quote.)

RULES
- DSL 2.1 LW/MW/HW/SHW-with unlimited entries untill the close date
-One entry per person in each weightclass, so 1 LW, 1 MW, 1 HW, and 1 SHW per person
- Battlebox 3.0
- 3 minute matches
- Realistic Rule applies very strongly, IT MUST BE FOLLOWED.
- No NARmour
- 1 Havok restart, 2nd time eliminated
- No AAM, NCR glitch, or any other glitch that makes the bot unrealistic
- Trov Glitch is allowed, don't abuse it
- You are allowed to BFE as long as the bot stays realistic
- Replicas are NOT allowed
- Cannot use DSA
- Robots must look as close to IRL designs as possible. (No unrealistic weapon sizes, disproportionate designs.)
- Moving weapons may not touch the ground initially. It is OK if a robot is flipped over but not if weapons hit the ground when the match starts.
- Bots with treads get a 60 kg weight cushion.
- It is recomended that your bot(s) have a sponsor decal, but it's not necessary (these can be a help if you're lazy):
- Judge bursts are allowed, but one Judge Burst per bot for LW and MW, two for the HW and SHW divisions.
- No multibots
- Joke bots must still be held to the IRL standards
- No armor attached directly to the chassis of the robot
- LW walkers/shufflers can weigh up to 425 kgs, but at least 175 kgs must be used on the walker or shuffler system itself.
- MW walkers/shufflers can weigh up to 800 kgs, but at least 400 kgs must be used on the walker or shuffler system itself.
- HW walkers/shufflers can weigh up to 1200 kgs, but at least 400 kgs must be used on the walker or shuffler system itself.
- SHW walkers/shufflers can weigh up to 1600 kgs, but at least 400 kgs must be used on the walker or shuffler system itself.
- Cheatbot2 components that are allowed:

*NEW* WEDGE RULES:
-Wedges have been a contravertial thing in previous Battlebots so I've decided to try doing something about it
-Not acceptable wedges:
-You may use skirt hinges if they are raised up atleast one notch as shown below.
-If it's okay with the majority involved, I will make the final call on if the wedge are acceptable.

JUDGING
- Fights will be judged on significant attacks and control of match.
- Fights will be judged on a spectrum of 45 points.
- Judges will be SKBT and Plazmic Inferno (090901 and Mr. AwesumSauce will be subs if they're both still up for it)

CHAMPIONS
- Moros, Biological Assault, Death Incarnate V 2.1, and Ryu: Hellfire will automatically be re-entered for winning the last tournamnet
- If MikeNCR, Akshaylan, or Thyrus want to enter something else they can send me a new bot
- If they also just want to send an update, that option is also open

MY ENTRIES
I'm entering with these:

I'll take any comments on the rules into consideration, and I hope I can crank this one out for you guys like I've done before.

And so, it begins. This thread is now a signups topic, and the rules stated above may not change.
Enjoy! :D

Good to see FSS are out of this as well.

Actually I never clarified flails. I might disallow them just to make things... less flaily.

The problem with having a certain heavier weapon motor for jugglers is that it's rarely ever effective, I don't think restricting the minimum motor options is a good idea.

Well don't enter a juggler? :P My point of view, and this issue was raised to me by Marty, is that if it's not done, somebody will enter an FS which essentially is a rammer or something because slow motors, and win everything by, very boringly, deweaponing everything else.
In my opinion it's either the restriction or remove Jugglers and Face Spinners, unless I can be convinced otherwise :P

Just to jump in here, we must remember that Mechadino has no obligation to test for hours upon end to find the perfect AI combination, if the bot wasn't AIed by it's owner, then MD only has to make sure it works in an expected fashion, which it did.

Good luck doing that while staying realistic :P
I think I'll keep those guidelines for now - they're in the rules now :)
