Actually I don't think less drive would be a good idea... seeing how 1WD bots tend to suck.
In what way? They hardly sacrifice much mobility but gain extra weapons/armour
I can see plenty of spinup time problems with more weapons which only add to the chances of them being beaten by rammers. Add to that a relative lack of controlled movement (although this is still a dubious subject due to Ai's and the realism of them and the suchlike) and they're just not that much better.

More Armour is fair, but won't provide a considerable advantage.

Wedged rammers don't generally work as they are too slow to inflict a lot of damage and a lot of the impact is absorbed the the wedge under the target.

Really, it would be better to turn this into a trapping design, which would work well against HS.

I like Nary as a mod.
I don't mind him, although his trigger finger with the warning system is slightly over the top.

:trollface
Anyway, solid LW, if somewhat generic. Nothing wrong with that in the case of a LW though.
You've got a lot of spare weight though. Might be worth getting a defensive razor or something as well as the plough.

I can't see any particular advantage with that design. It might work with a fast HW, but the maces are too bulky to work as a wamming rack and in two rows they won't hit at the same time. Would work better as a wide rammer or pusher.

Discussion / Re: Idea - 'The Chassis Market'
« on: October 31, 2011, 03:18:59 PM »
Actually I have a better idea.

You called your thing a MARKET, right ? A market isn't a charity. A market is somewhere where you exchange items, not give them to other people for free. What about something on exchanging chassis ? One for one, so it's fair and it doesn't makes the market users less skilled.

This is an excellent idea for newer users, but for veterans, they'd be better off making a new chassis.
I think the inverse; a veteran generally can make a good chassis but may simply not be bothered to build one, while a newbie needs the experience.

Agree with madman.
As to the former, I can see problems unless we establish certain members as trustworthy sources; a newbie could trade a pretty decent chassis to another and get a half assed one in return. In addition I can see a problem with this as it almost entirely effects the veterans who do chassis swapping to experiment with design, while I can't see a big use by newer users.

As for the latter statement, yays.

Got an A* result on a 4 hour English essay I did just before half term, got the result today. Pretty happy with that.

Some obvious uses is for HS, but I don't entirely support its use for very specific bot types. There should rather be certain platforms, such as one for pokers and rammers, one for FS and trappers, one for general gutrippers like popups and drums, along those lines.

Was talkin bout the components.
I don't have 2.0 or earlier so I can't check. I imagine click or starcore might still have a copy of the early versions.

I still don't know what to build AND be efficient in unrealistic DSL at the same time...
Drums with excessive use of those 2kg hypno teeth. Flatmotors too.

I seriously don't see how that is a loophole.
I dunno, ask Nary, he mentioned it on the first page.

It's probably as the AI components that have more realistic counterparts are now usable due to the lack of realistic rule. Since they aren't cheatbot components and aren't banned on the first post I guess they are allowed at your discretion. If you feel like it I can replace it with my sawbot on which the design was based.
They shouldn't be allowed as they ARE cheatbot2 components.
I thought Nary was talking about using Typhoon Flags and Narmour etc...

No, actually Preytor did said "DSL" not "DSL 2.1".

Meaning this could be any DSL, and we could have any DSL non-cheatbot2 components. Anyone remembers back then, when matilda teeth (among other things) didn't suck ?
Ohh, so that's what you meant. Can see the potential uses, actually.

Show me some proof and then I'll allow it.
Unless you've edited your first post it should still be there.

As for the components, we'd need someone with DSL 2.0 to check. I don't as it happens, so I can't use it.
